Updated SkiErg

Post by Spinal » January 2nd, 2022, 8:07 am

I recently updated my RowErg, SkiErg and BikeErg to the latest firmware via windows laptop and cable using the C2 utility app..... it seems the SkiErg PM5 thinks it is now a RowErg and is logging ski workout entries onto c2 online logbook as rows.

Is there a quick fix for this issue or do I need to contact C2 support :?: :?: :?:

I know that PM's can be set to different types of rowers, without using the software utility described below because I've done that on a PM3. I'm not sure of all the steps on a PM5, but there's some discussion of how to get to the proper menu here: https://www.concept2.com/service/monito ... stuck-zero

You can also tell the PM5 that it's on a SkiErg using the utility as described here:

https://www.concept2.com/service/softwa ... t2-utility

https://www.concept2.com/service/softwa ... nitor-type

Converting Monitor Type

This function allows you to change the type of machine the monitor will be used with (SkiErg, Indoor Rower Model A, B, C, D, E or Dynamic).

Launch the Concept2 Utility.
On the main screen, click Maintenance and Settings.
Click Perform Monitor Maintenance.
Select PM3, PM4 or PM5 as appropriate for the monitor you want to maintain. If your monitor is already connected, skip to step 6.
Use a USB cable (standard printer cable) to connect the monitor to your computer.
Click Convert Monitor Type.
Select the machine type you want to convert the monitor to.
Click OK. The Concept2 Utility will begin converting the monitor. The conversion takes several minutes. The utility displays a progress indicator will the conversion is occurring and will notify you when the conversion is complete.

Sorted using steps above (utility and cable), thank you for taking the time to share 👍

I keep getting "Unable to convert..." error message, no matter which type of a conversion I try.
Why couldn't I just load a custom firmware to the monitor? I mean it seems that the utility has a tool to load "optional firmware" but a password is needed?
