Think it is the same in the UK, the best Uni rowers would be pulling round the 6 min mark (1:30/500m).
But then again I am talking about Oxford and Cambridge, and most of them are from the US, Canada and Germany.

Last Years BIRC results for University Heavyweight Men are here
http://www.concept2.co.uk/birc/results_ ... =A2

Last Years BIRC results for University Lightweight Men are here
http://www.concept2.co.uk/birc/results_ ... =B2

Dont have a Uni division in Ireland for the IRC so I dont really know what they are doing over here

Someone from my school last year had 6:19 for his 2k and 20:20 for his 6k. It wouldnt surprise me if some of the best colleges in the world had people sub 6. He's going to cornell now.

Georgetown lightweights in the early-mid-90s had a few sub 6:30s (around 6:25-6:29) and a few in the low to mid 6:30s in the first 8; there was also a 5:57 (he went on to row in the Olympics). The 2v had guys from 6:31 to 7:05. The 3v were a bit higher.

-Jamie

At last year's Crash-B Sprints, a Brown University student rowed a 5:56.3.
