Re: Cross Team Challenge - Discussion Thread
Thanks Dougie. I have a passing knowledge of working with PHPMyadmin, so would be happy to help out as backup once we've had some time for a brief training session. Something to worry about towards the end of the year when things quieten down .
I was more worried about the regular maintenance work being affected by key man risk, but there is a broader longer-term challenge to worry about with Daren being central to the infrastructure / IP part.

Sounds like an spiritual property squabble? Chandisingh has the code copyrights and the more demonstrably passionate members of sub7 have been known to claim special privilege by virtue of having been present at the moment of the striking of the creative spark. Could get expensive. Will this require crowd funding?

Re: Cross Team Challenge - Discussion Thread
I'm always reluctant to over-govern things, especially then they have worked so well uninterrupted for 16 years. The charm and success of the CTC is that issues get resolved through debate and common sense, and where some additional support is needed, it normally comes quickly from volunteers. Daren stepped up and put together something solid and useful over a weekend (and continues to pay for the domain name and hosting costs presumably), Dougie took on the monthly maintenance role willingly, and Joe proposed and runs the fair way of selecting teams to choose the challenges. Others help with collective wisdom to get issues resolved fairly.
Maybe we need to put something a little more formal in place to ensure this continues to run for at least another 16 years, and it could be as simple as a panel with various representatives to handle decisions, make sure the necessary roles are filled, and there is a backup plan to reduce key man risk.
I'm already in the middle of governance season at work, so let me stop depressing myself further on this topic on my personal time by going down a redtape rabbit hole.
I trust we'll be able to come up with something sensible in good time before something breaks!

It's things like this that get taken for granted, but I really appreciate the hard work and effort.Slothful1 wrote: ↑November 17th, 2021, 2:09 amDaren stepped up and put together something solid and useful over a weekend (and continues to pay for the domain name and hosting costs presumably), Dougie took on the monthly maintenance role willingly, and Joe proposed and runs the fair way of selecting teams to choose the challenges. I'm useless for IT issues, but I'll help if I can.

Hey Joe (great song),joe80 wrote: ↑November 9th, 2021, 5:01 pmHi Albert,
The first available month for a challenge is March 2022. It's yours and you have plenty of time to think up something imaginative, excruciating or both.
I can't think of anything to add to Citroen's excellent summary shown in the previous post.
Regards,
Joe
Realized I let this slip. We would love to post the challenge for March 2022 if it's still ours for the taking. Will send on something at least 5 days in advance.
Best,
Albert

Make sure you're entering it with upper and lower case as it's case sensitive.
If that doesn't work then try a password of : password
as the quirky system sometimes records that.
Else you'll need to wait until the weekend when I'm back in the UK from this Caribbean cruise boat.

Yes. Apologies for leaving you out. I'll include you, backdated to April, in the list at the start of December.AndyTomlinson wrote: ↑November 24th, 2021, 8:17 pmHi,

Re: Cross Team Challenge - Discussion Thread
That makes seven consecutive victories for the MAD team in this year's CTC. Outstanding!
The Diamonds launched an impressive 27 strong flotilla on their own challenge.
U Chicago Crew, having completed three consecutive challenges, have claimed the March challenge. Club Row Crew have also qualified but must message me if they wish to take up the option for April.
Future Challengers:
January - Free Spirits
February - Rowing Club Mantova
March - U Chicago Crew
Regards,
Joe

Hi everybody,
the Free Spirits ctc for January is:
“Free Spirits would like to wish you all a happy & healthy new year and kick it off with a Free & Spirited 6k TT. No restrictions apart from a standing start.”

Hi all, new here and just re-did the 1k@24spm challenge but my foggy old brain forgot my password to submit my score. Anyone can help to reset it? Thanks in advance!
