Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
After bit of advice on my 5k PB (slow down, pull harder/longer), got a new 10k
Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M
42:46.7 10,000m 2:08.3 166 869 23 142
8:25.5 2,000m 2:06.3 173 896 22 138

8:27.7 10,000m 2:06.9 171 889 24 148
Not particularly impressive - but I'm 300# and only a month into a half into this exercise/ergo malarky.
Not quite sure how the rankings work, but I seem to have got into the top half of 'everybody' - next goal, top half of men of my middle-age.

Well done, but I don't agree with "not particularly impressive." This is your PB, so that is always something to be proud of. Don't ever lose sight of how long some of us have been doing this, so there is no comparison.goldcd wrote: ↑November 21st, 2021, 4:20 pmAfter bit of advice on my 5k PB (slow down, pull harder/longer), got a new 10k

When you've lost weight and been rowing for years, then you can start to consider what is particularly impressive, and if you keep working hard, I'm sure that your current PB will be your training pace.
Erging is a meritocratic exercise, but there are no shortcuts, so keep doing what you're doing, and we'll be celebrating a sub 40 min 10k before too long.

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Been struggling with motivation after the 1k but had a crack at the 1' on the skierg today.
Unusual warm up...
Front squats. 60kg 5x5
1:00.0 309m 1:37.0 382 1616 65
0:15.0 78m 1:36.1 394 1654 72
0:30.0 80m 1:33.7 425 1761 64
0:45.0 77m 1:37.4 379 1603 64
1:00.0 74m 1:41.3 336 1457 60
Classic fly and die. Saw projected distances of 327 (never going to happen), 323 and then 318 come and go and it was a bit of a battle to get any power into my arms from about 40 seconds.
Happy with this and hopefully mojo now regained.

Not particularly impressive - but I'm 300# and only a month into a half into this exercise/ergo malarky.
Not quite sure how the rankings work, but I seem to have got into the top half of 'everybody' - next goal, top half of men of my middle-age.

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Well done Max, +11m is huge and pacing looks about right, around 40'' in is also the point for me where it gets nasty and painful, and when looking at the effort in the logbook I'm always a bit surprised that the watts weren't close to zero for the last strokesmax_ratcliffe wrote: ↑November 22nd, 2021, 7:15 amBeen struggling with motivation after the 1k but had a crack at the 1' on the skierg today.
Unusual warm up...

Classic fly and die. Saw projected distances of 327 (never going to happen), 323 and then 318 come and go and it was a bit of a battle to get any power into my arms from about 40 seconds.
Happy with this and hopefully mojo now regained.
