Surprised myself with this 6m PB for the CTC 1'....didn't think I could get much more than a metre or two over 340m.

0:15.0 85m 1:28.2 48

0:45.0 87m 1:26.2 52
1:00.0 87m 1:26.2 48
Chuffed
This is an extraordinary effort Alex. 49 is a great rate, but noting that you describe yourself as Monty Burns-like, 346m really is something else.

You should be chuffed too. This is probably your best PB, and there's no fade. Really impressive to keep powering through the last 15 seconds

Strong stuff! As Stu said, right through and across the line.
Well done.

Thanks all.....not entirely sure where this came from tbh but just maybe the weights and core work are paying off. Fingers crossed for more improvements but I will be looking to make my Skierg times quicker first and foremost.

If I stick to the schedule and keep up the momentum, by the end of the day Friday I will have achieved PB's for all four of my tracked categories just this month.
This Saturday I will be adding Pilates to the routine. I hope I don't embarrass myself.

Great progress.
It depends if you're doing classic or dynamic Pilates. Classic is tough to do correctly, but it can be relatively easy to cheat, or at least not do properly as you need to learn how to engage the deep inner core muscles, rather than the superficial muscle. Imagine tensing your stomach, and pulling in your stomach: you probably did the latter when you first were told to do it, but you'd now do the former.
Like any new exercise it gets easier with practice and repetition, so don't worry if you do struggle a bit to start with as, like rowing, it's surprisingly technical for a seemingly easy movement. It's a massive benefit for rowing, as you also learn breath control as well as working on strength and conditioning

What's the difference between classic and dynamic? I'm not entirely sure what to expect Saturday morning.
As it turns out, there's a Pilates studio right next door to The Row House studio that I visit every weekend. Whenever I'd go to my rowing class, I'd see the Pilates studio and think that it would be a perfect supplement to my rowing routine. I also recall you mentioning Pilates here and there.
Breath control is something I need to work on. When rowing, I don't even think about it. I just huff and puff.

Classic is slow and controlled with more subtle movements and holds. Dynamic is faster and more movement with a few movements combined. I much prefer dynamic as it's more challenging, and I find classic a bit boring, but it's a very good base to learn how to do it properly.
Aim for the easier option to start with, and don't let your ego tell you you should be as good as everyone else. All I can probably say with some certainty is expect to be sore a couple of days later

Nice gradual improvements, a few seconds here and there is the best way I feel. I have so often blown out trying to make 20 odd second jumps.

Well done. Looks fairly comfortable judging by the splits. Looks like there's plenty more to come based on current fitness if you prepare more specifically.
Good to see more people using the skierg these days too.
