When you have hailstones like this:

Your car gets to look like this:

What sort of idiot buys a black car in Australia anyway?

If only Father Ted were still around to hammer out the damage.

oh sh*t!

hope you have hail insurance and that your windows/skylights at home survived? lots of weird weather around the country right now - we've had tornados in Sydney, which is unheard of

Wow, imagine what that would have done to your head, or a pet dog!! That's frightening.

More notably, where are the callouses on your hands??!! Mine look like a building labourers and I do a desk job.

Luckily I'm not someone who really loves his car. Otherwise I'd be more upset but now I just think it adds character.

3rd party insurance only, so I'll have to live with the dents and pay for a new windscreen unless they can magically repair a couple of cracks.

This weather is pretty unusual in SA - much more a Queensland thing - and I've not seen it before in the 15 years or so that we've been here. But it's not unheard of. No doubt the Murdoch press are trying to find all sorts of similar incidents from the 19th century to "prove" that it's nothing to do with climate change.

I still have some calluses on the next joint up (apparently the proximal interphalangeal joint - you learn something every day) but yeah, the skierg doesn't seem to build them in quite the same way. Another thing to look forward to when I start rowing again in a couple of weeks or so. Bit nervous about how my erg fitness will have declined.

We had hailstones that size in England in 2012. It was a storm that went up the centre of the country from the Cotswolds to Newcastle. It was a super tornado they called it.

Cars were dented like yours, roof slates and tiles were pummelled, greenhouses obliterated.

The edges of the storm passed 300 meters as the crow flies from my house, the actual storm was probably 300 meters wide and 3 streets wide looked like a bomb had gone off leaves were everywhere and roofers could not print enough cards lol

Hahaha

I forgot that you're all over the skierg atm, and I used to rub the inside of my thumbs when I randomly used it about four years ago.

We had a hailstorm like that in JHB in the 90's - I put on a cycling helmet when I went outside to move my wife's car to a shelter, and the helmet got cracked by one of the hailstones!!!!
While violent electrical storms are a regular occurrence in a JHB summer, thankfully really damaging hailstorms are infrequent.

Jo'berg. It's the code for O. R. Tambo International Airport. (One of my less than favourite airports at 07:00 after an overnight flight from Heathrow.)
