Re: Forum Flyers
Hopefully Chris (meerkats) will be along soon with the details, including donation options.
I'm expecting that it will be run manually, with a combination of logging the hour in your logbook (using ErgData, or any other of your normal methods) and then updating the Google sheet with the distance rowed. It would also be useful to share the info here so that others can see the progress.
I wasn't part of Chris's previous event, so he'll know what worked and didn't last time. Technically if we fill all the slots, and start on the hour with a set 1 hour on the monitor, we'll be keeping a Forum Flyers flywheel moving somewhere in the world throughout the 24 hours.
I assume that it will be fine to use any of the C2 ergs, although we might want to divide the BikeErg metres by 2 like they do for the C2 challenges. I'd be up for some variety too (would definitely prefer the bike option), but will wait for Chris's ruling.

Dave - good to see that you put some meters on the board for the FTC and did the CTCSlothful1 wrote: ↑September 23rd, 2021, 2:22 amThanks for being diplomatic and not including me in your list there, Marc .
I've been having a tough work period recently, and just haven't had the time to get on the bike or rower. I thought the FTC would be my spark, plus needing to get some miles in to prep for Chris's 24 hour relay row, but so far I'm still on zero.
I'm on leave from tomorrow for a week. Only downside is we're going away, but I'm going to have to do some rows before and after to get the hands and butt ready for 9 October.
Dave
Which brings me to the normal plea of "we are just one rower short of launching boat VII". This time we need a female rower. Any woman out there have the 12:00 to sit on the erg to post a distance?
Myself, I am on leave starting today - so may see a little less effort from me too. I will be back on it in time for the 9 October row and to finish up the FTC.

Jean Gilmore answered the plea...and she is with Jack in our now floating boat #7!
Any chance we can get to 8 boats this month?

When I looked earlier today, we were just one rower short of launching 8 boats - Sheena posted her time (best of all the ladies on the team, too) - so no restrictions on type of rower - we have the lightweight and female requirements met

Re: Forum Flyers
No 1 apologies, absent with new job that happened rather quickly. So TBH, my focus has not been on the rowing as my M's total will tell you over the last few weeks.Slothful1 wrote: ↑September 26th, 2021, 3:00 amHopefully Chris (meerkats) will be along soon with the details, including donation options.

So my initial thoughts,
1) Still loving the idea of the 24 hour row, donation site will be done by end of play.
2) However, we need to fill the slots, do we think that we delay a month?. If we delay a month can evweryone still come out to play say we were starting it on 6th Nov instead??
Apoligies again but I'm just being realistic, whilst regaining the focus
Cheers
Chris

Re: Forum Flyers
With this advance warning, I should be fine to slot in with a delayed event. It would certainly help me get some endurance back before the event! I'm just back from a week's holiday, and the only exercise was a slow meander around a game reserve on a mountain bike. It was still a 2.5 hour slog which told me that it's time to get back to some structured training, and watch the food.
With an extra month we could sort out logistics and do a bit more marketing to get some extra members into the schedule. I'd still like the option of any C2 erg (with bike metres halved), because I'm more likely to be up for a longer bike than long rows by then.

Re: Forum Flyers
And well done team for getting 8 boats up and floating. Our turn to choose the challenge is getting closer, and should be in Q1 next year if we keep floating this number of boats regularly.

Re: Forum Flyers
I would definitely be up for participating in the 24hr challenge if we could delay. Linda would too if BikeErg counts. The reason we did not sign up for Oct 9-10 is that we are traveling and don't have access to any type of erg (as evidenced by unfortunate lack of participation in Fall Challenge as of late).

Re: Forum Flyers
I am still available the first weekend of November 6 if you wish to delay by a month.
I will likely still do an hour row on Saturday as I am all psyched for it - and it will bump up my totals for the FTC

I would be available in November.
Re: Forum Flyers
Hi all,
If its Nov 6-7th I most likely won't have access to an erg, unfortunately (other than Sunday evening).

Re: Forum Flyers
Jack - for someone who was going to sit out the FTC, you had a pretty good showing (101,000 m). I had to nip in another 400 m just to get to 100 k at the last minute.
Congratulations to all who participated, no matter how many meters you put in, they all counted. Special mention to James and Harry who both exceeded 500 k.
Now that the FTC is over, I turned my attention to the October CTC - a good anaerobic workout!. Managed to accumulate 0 rest meters so no math challenges for me. I imagine that several of us were waiting to finish up the FTC before attempting the CTC - my row floated boat I. We have two other boats waiting for an F rower and Boat IV needs an L and an F.
Have a great weekend folks!
