Congrats on the PB....great progressDutch wrote: ↑September 19th, 2021, 5:33 pmThought I would have a go at how far I can get in 30 mins. My previous best was 7180 back in April. Today I did 103m further and did 7283m.
I did the first 14 mins right on pace of 2.00, but by 18 mins I was starting to slip breathing was getting harder, I knew i was not going to hit 7500m. There would have been a time that this would have made me HD, but now I have just learnt to just ease back a little and then pick it up again when able. Ended with a good charge from 26 mins to the end.
I am now trying to breakout of what you might call training pace of 23 strokes and under and start doing pieces at maybe 25 to 26 pace where I am starting to feel more comfortable and deffo have a lot more gas in the tank.
I think a lot is just getting used to rowing faster and maybe not pull so hard at the beginning.
30mins, 7283m, watts 185, spm 23, av 2.03.5, df 114, hr 114.
The HM I did 5 days ago seems to have paid me back well, I now want to do a full marathon and a 100k.
I will prob do the full marathon in early November. I am going to do a a few 70 min rows and a couple of 2 hr rows first over time then just have a go as I did the HM. I am fathoming pace maybe about 2.20 for it on current estimates.

Be careful with the FM, you're really training for the last 10k of it, so a two hour session is great training, but it's not really indicative of what you might encounter. Mindset is a massive part of how to succeed as it's superficial issues, although it won't feel like it at the time.

Thanks nick, my fitness really jumped about 6 weeks ago and heart rate dropped a lot for training. I am probably not pushing as hard as I could on record attempts. I try to keep them controlled and just do smaller increments of improvement. It was very easy for me to quit mid row. Not so bad now.aussie nick wrote: ↑September 19th, 2021, 8:17 pm
congrats Dutch - that's a very good improvement - crazy how low your HR is for a PR?
Thanks winnie, things are coming along nice and slowly.
Thanks danger, I am starting to get that control quite well set in now.Dangerscouse wrote: ↑September 20th, 2021, 3:19 am

I will see how it goes with the FM, it is only a feeling of wanting to at the moment, there is a lot to consider I am sure. As you say 2hrs is prob just over half way potentially so I may need to extend them to 2.5 and more before I do one.

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
I'd aim for distance, rather than time. Anything over 30k will be good, but edging up to 35k will be better. When you get a specific distance done, it adds mental refuges that are very useful when you're struggling.

Hi Dutch,
Thanks! Just saw your post from a few days back, seems we went in from a similar place: F-it and do it on a whim
![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
I recognize the fading at the halfway point, interestingly after that I did seem to get a second wind. 21k is unknown terroritory, but 10k I know how to do..doesn’t make sense, but that’s apparently how my mind works..
I’m very curious how your FM is going to to turn out!
That’s several bridges too far for me now..
Keep up the good work!!!

good work Jerome! I did an 80 min, 19ish k last week which was my longest ever and I certainly felt stiff in a few places I hadn't felt for a while the next day. Nice to finish it off with a faster split as well and your heart rate looks under control. Great stuff!Jerome wrote: ↑September 20th, 2021, 11:40 amFirst HM:
