What is a goal for the participating members for this 2021 FTC?

-Matt :?:
Hi Matt

So about 100,000+ average per member is a good starting point to aim for. We have 56 members signed up for the challenge already, so looking promising that we might have a shot at beating last year's levels.

Dave
We need some more teammates to sign up! And Dave's email was a great reminder.

Last year...we had 88 people sign up...of which 81 people actually rowed. To reach our total of 12,765,330 meters, 81 people rowed an average of 157,597 meters. The 81 rowers split out as follows...
>500K = 1 rower (Jack Gilmore!) was that a record?
400-499K = 4 rowers
300-399K = 8 rowers
200-299K = 15 rowers
100-199K = 22 rowers
1-99K = 31 rowers

Thus far this year, 56 have signed up however only 43 have actually rowed. But it is very early yet! The team has grown since last year in both quantity and quality...so even though last year was an awesome result...it would be disappointing if we don't beat it this year! Let's go!

Most of us seem to be primarily rowers...but BikeErg and SkiErg count too if your bum needs a break from back-to-back days on the rower!

Thanks Marc!

This is also a good time to remind everyone of the 24 hour team row Chris set up in October (starting Saturday the 9th). Pick one or more of the hourly slots and that will generate some good metres.

I need to get some prep work in as well, so hopefully will add some extra metres to the total.

Hey Marc. Probably NOT an indy record for Flyers in FTC I think. Wasn’t even my best meter munch. Think I accumulated 700K+ in the 2015 or ‘16 VTC but that was with Knotty Knitters. Did a couple 55k days for that one. Best consecutive day string was 15k per deum for 31 days of the March Mud Season (2017?) Sitting out FTC this year but did manage Dog Days. Expecting Linda to kick ass and take names!🤞

Today I noticed an Andrew Vorhees of the Narragansett Boat Club entered in the CRI Fall Classic 3-mile race on the Charles River on Saturday. Any relation?

Rick-

Voorhees is a bit of an unusual name...but Andrew is no relation.

Too bad. He's really good. This morning he won the 1X (single sculling boat) at the regatta. I was hoping to meet him and recruit him, and maybe even get a photo, but I raced twice myself and couldn't find him in the masses of rowers moving their boats around. The more Vorhees on the Flyers the better.

The usual FTC analyser and your own page within it are up and running now folks. Sorry for the delay - I'm injured and forgot the challenge had started

Another plea on the Concept2 Fall Challenge. We are currently 19th out of 726 teams, which is pretty impressive! But we finished 14th last year, so it seems we could be doing even better, as overall during the past year, Forum Flyers has grown in both quality and quantity.

I know life commitments (and injuries!) can get in the way! But don't be intimidated by the 100K and 200K goals mentioned by Concept2. There is no requirement to row a certain number of meters in the Fall Challenge. EVERY meter you row (regardless of amount) counts toward our team total. But you have to sign up for the challenge on Concept2...and then whatever you row, counts for us. So if you are rowing (or SkiErg or BikeErg) simply make it count.

I am going to make a plea directly to a few people. These folks are rowing...as they have times in this month's CTC Challenge...but I don't see their names in the Fall Challenge (admittedly some of the names are hard to match up; so I apologize for my mistakes). These folks don't have to do anything different other than just registering for the Fall Challenge.

Sorry for being a pest. Hard to control my competitive nature :-)

Thanks,

Hi everyone. This is my first FTC and I was just going to try and make the 100k so I could buy a shirt or something. Well, I'm sitting at over 50k as of tonight so I needed to set a loftier goal.

I need something like 6500 meters per day for the rest of the challenge to make 200k and I'm rowing between 7500 and 10k-ish so I feel pretty good about my new goal.

I bought a HRM and everything so I guess you could say things are getting pretty serious 😁

Thanks for being diplomatic and not including me in your list there, Marc :).

I've been having a tough work period recently, and just haven't had the time to get on the bike or rower. I thought the FTC would be my spark, plus needing to get some miles in to prep for Chris's 24 hour relay row, but so far I'm still on zero.

I'm on leave from tomorrow for a week. Only downside is we're going away, but I'm going to have to do some rows before and after to get the hands and butt ready for 9 October.

Please all consider getting involved in Chris's row. Link to spreadsheet further up the thread, because I'm starting to get worried that even 1 hour (let alone 3 hourly shifts) is doable for me at the moment! It will be some good metres to add to the Challenge too. With our geographic spread we should be able to cover all the 24 slots easily.

I'll be honest, the combination of awesome early fall weather and my love for my (still fairly new) gravel bike have me out on the trails a lot lately and that's eating into my erg time. I will get on the board by the end of the weekend for the Cross Team Challenge, though, and will be racking up more meters for the FTC.

Where is the sign up sheet for the 10/9/21 relay row for 24-hr?

I am on US EST and should be able to contribute.

Thanks Matt. I can move my slots to some extent if there's one you'd prefer. If you can't edit the sheet let me know and I'll make the change.

I've never done a live rowing event, so I've got a ton of questions.
Is this only for the RowErg or can the other C2 ergs be used?
Do we just use ErgData set for a 1 hour interval and add it to our logbook when finished, or is this going to be set up as a live race in ErgRace?
How much, to whom, and how do we donate the money?
Is more info forthcoming before the event?

Thanks for any further Info.
