Harder to row
My concept2 model D seems harder to row on the same damper settings I used previously. I have oiled the chain and cleaned the damper strip any ideas what else i could do?

Re: Harder to row
Stop using the damper lever as an indicator. Get the PM5 to show you the drag factor.
If you clean the crud out of the fan cage then the drag will increase because more air goes through the fan.

To add to what Citroen advised, what you've done is a good thing. You just need to become familiar with what drag factor is and how to set it. Check here for all you need to know:

was it harder to row before you cleaned it ?
Re: Harder to row
Use a lower damper setting. If already as low as possible, put a filter over the air inlet. Drag as low as 80 is still enough to get fit, if you pull a long stroke fast.

Re: Harder to row
It would be good to rule out all of the "failed bearing" "rubbing flywheel" "rubbing chain" type of problems as well as focus on damper.
If he wasn't touching the damper and suddenly noticed MORE not less torque needed to pull then there is a mechanical problem somewhere. Any of the air blockage problems cause less torque.
If he cleaned it and it got harder we all know what is going on.
