Re: Forum Flyers
I'll be posting a time on the CTC each month now so that's one more hwt male (lightweight if I cut out the beer and pizza)
Tried to form a crew with my local OTW rowing club but that idea quickly fizzled out!

Re: Forum Flyers
I kept changing my mind on whether I was going to do the challenge or not, with the usual excuses (too much work, too lazy in the evenings, vaccination yesterday, going away for the weekend, etc., etc.). In the end a few things fell into place (stayed home on Friday night, didn't feel too bad after the shot), so there was really no excuse not to ... err ... join Linda and Jack on the dock for now . At least the number of the boat increased by one, so well done Voorhees family for the contributions .
Definitely looking forward to next month's challenge more than the last couple of months.

And my older son just nipped me at the wire by 8 tenths of second...while my younger son was behind by 16 seconds. They each rowed the CTC twice this month. The sibling rivalry and the pleasure of beating their old man will keep them active in the CTC (and C2 challenges). Plus Linda will be on them to float her boat
My older son rows (although not as seriously as I do) while this was my younger son's first time...so they will get better, and soon leave me behind...but it will be fun to see how long I can hang with them.

Outstanding turnout and all afloat thanx to the eleventh hour closers. The boats of the renascent Diamonds fleet are everywhere! Let’s shoot for 8 boats on this month’s sprinty pyramid.

boat 1 straight out of the traps, well done peeps.
More to come with tis one, proper warm up required, but damned you are puffing after the 500 and the 2nd 400.
Great training piece this, spend the rest paddling and actively getting your breath back

Re: Forum Flyers
Wondered why second attempt was faster but then a lot slower than the time I entered for 1st attempt. A maths adding up issue, now rectified. I have been doing a few sprinty stuff so this will need a few attempts to get it right. It's the 1 minute rest that's the killer especially the 500 and second 400.

Mixed Team 24 hr Row.
some might remember, I organised a 12hr row many years ago for the Haiti earthquake.....and here we are again!!!!
So what to do this time?? Well i thought what better to think about first than doing a 24hr relay online row with my fellow flyers. this has been done before, basically we see how many want to do it and then fill slots across a 24hr period. Clearly the more that join the sorter the durations and the more m's. depending on who is in and how many will see if we can attack a record, or we just do it for the sake of it and the fun of it.
I'll work some more logistics out, but basically, if we said maybe the first weekend in October??, who would be interested??
In terms of money raising, I'd say we all pay a fee and then we can maybe get other sponsorship on top

Re: Forum Flyers
Linda and I would be "in" on the 24hr row...but unfortunately we are not going to have access to a rower from Sept 28 thru Oct 9. Don't change any timing on our behalf; just letting you know we'd be interested if not for the timing.
Great idea! Good luck.

Re: Forum Flyers
Count me in for the 24-hour relay, depending on scheduling. Sounds like a good idea all around.
