Awesome work especially for the Ski-Erg. There has been a lot more Ski-erg results on here lately and they always impress me as I find that machine hard...I haven't used it much and I sort of avoid it.
Thanks Keith,
It's a bit like the rower in that it's very hard to get any idea of pacing until you've got a few miles on the clock. Once you start to get a feel for the pace, then you can start building the volume up a bit. It's not that long ago that 2k seemed a long way.

As its quite cool here in Aus i thought id take advantage and do a half marathon. No real target in mind - just to complete it

Felt pretty comfortable. Last 8km was a bit of grind. Had a funny snap with about 12km to go when i almost stopped for no reason but that then passed and i felt ok again. think this betters my last attempt by a few minutes

So you lowered your time by another 4 seconds?! That's huge. The 330w/1:42 pace is a good goal.

Nice work. How does it feel when you finish. Don’t think comparing to cycling makes much sense. I can imagion that fluctuating from one to another a good bit.
Pacing looks very solid. Looks like 7 min at a fixed pace. :D Doing well!

At the end I felt gassed but not like I fully emptied the tank. I know the two efforts are different, but I've done 2 x 8min tests on the bike for about a decade, and on those, I'd even pace them and after the first four minutes always wonder if I could hang on, and then spent the last four minutes "in the tunnel." At the end I'd be doubled over on the bike and sometimes let out an "arghhh" when the pain of the effort really hits, a few seconds after stopping.

On the erg yesterday, it felt hard, and I wondered if I could hit that 320w goal, but I had a good bit left for that last two minutes. After I finished I was winded, but didn't feel like I had been "in the coffin" for the effort.

I'm not sure about HR -- on the 8min bike tests I was hitting 167 last year. 156 for the erg test, ok, maybe it's because of the lower cadence and the difference in posture, and 156 is my HR peak on the erg. Or maybe I'm still not as adapted to the erg as I am the bike.

I wont try another one for a while -- I think one goal this winter is to see just how far "in the tunnel" or "in the coffin" I can go on that thing. I don't want to sound cocky, but I think there's still some on the table, I just have to learn how to reach for it.

Certainly sounds like not fully 100% yet. If I did/do a 2k, and certainly in a race, I would be completely spend, legs jelly and in much pain and gasping like mad. Which will be fine though after 15 min orso. But very uncomfortable.
Never bike raced, or biked much at all. That is as training, in daily life, certainly in my youth I biked a lot. 20/30k daily school/work. Difference is bike is legs, rowing much more all body.
For a guy like with your cycling background think it will be normal to be relative better at cycling. For me I could never match my rowing/running hf on a bike. Legs are giving in, way before the rest.

It doesn't sound cocky at all. I agree with Henry that there is more to give judging by your assessment of how you felt afterwards.

I imagine that with a lot of cycling experience, it seems on face value very transferable to rowing, but I suspect that there is a subtle difference that needs to be trained.

No doubt. I'm no cyclist but your power performance on the bike is other-worldly to me. You don't want to allow that engine to overpower the chassis and pick up another injury - no sense in beasting yourself with too many 2k TTs.

After rowing on and off since 2014 I rowed a sub 7 today with 6:58.9.
Did this after completing week 15 of the Beginner Pete Plan!
I only aim to row 3 to 4 days a week; now need to keep going to get more PB's.
