300 lbs Weight Limit

I’m 6’10” and weigh 340 lbs. C2 lists the bikeerg weight limit at 300 lbs. Has anyone over 300 lbs rode the bikeerg or does anyone know anyone over 300 lbs that has rode one? I own a rower and love C2’s quality, but a back injury is forcing me to stop rowing, so I’d like to purchase a bikeerg but the weight limit is concerning.

Welcome to the forum. I think the deafening silence is your answer.

If you want a Concept 2 product, mebbe consider the skierg. Back friendly & no weight restrictions. Complements the erg well, as it works the anterior chain.

Probably any bike would have the same issue, whether the frame is strong enough to hold all that weight.
Since the rower did, maybe the bike would too. Calling and getting C2's opinion would give you more information.

The bike erg build is really robust. On most regular bikes the wheels are the most problem with excess weight. I've seen riders well over 300lb riding outdoors.I think you would be ok. But, like suggested, a call to Concept 2 may give you more assurance.

Thank you all for the responses. I’ve never considered the Ski-Erg, but I’ve been doing a bit of research and that is the route I’m going to take. At some point my PT will give me the all clear to row again and it will be good to have learned some proficiency on the Ski-Erg and have an alternative to rowing. Thanks again!

I know that my response is a bit late, but maybe it will help someone else.

When I bought our Bike Erg my weight was about 330. I am now down to 312. I have not had any problems with the bike erg. I do focus on riding very smooth and not rocking back and forth. I don't want to over stress this nice bike and possibly break it. I really like the bike. I use both the rower and the bike for my workouts. It also works really well with the normal seat post at my height of 6-6.

I've ridden the bikeerg at a weight of 400 lbs with no concerns and I'm currently in the low 380's and ride it five days per week.

I did contact C2 before purchasing and received a reply from one of their engineers. He told me the weight limit was based on the saddle rails' weight limit.

I want to be clear that he did NOT "give me the okay" to use the bikeerg. He provided me with the information on how the weight limit was determined and I made the decision to use the bikeerg at a weight that exceeds the limit. I've got over 1 million meters on it and have had zero issues, although I did replace the saddle (probably stouter rails) and handlebar to more comfortable versions.

Get out and walk to loose the excess weight before you get on any type of equipment.

Rowing is a no go for that weight anyway you cannot perform the correct technique for the catch.
