Bill, I am also in the process of starting a compnay. (See www.BridgeStreetToys.com for details) The new venture really puts a damper on my rowing. But, I only have 2.0 kids, so I shouldn't complain about time.

Usually I take the erg off the slides and stand the slides leaning against a wall. That way everyone doesn't trip on them when not in use. I can set up and take down in less than a minute. If you come over to test the slides, I will demonstrate my quick set up routine including logging into RowPro, positioning fans, etc.

Jon, I live on the other side of Rt 30 from the Country Day School. I am on Ox Bow Road, just up the hill from the Leo J. Martin golf course and very close to the Wellesley town line.

Cheers,

Paul Flack

I just ordered my slides here in Germany and look forward to using them. My hope is that they provide a more natural and smooth feeling while operating. Understand though i need a blowing machine to cool down a bit as the movement does not generate as much back and forth movement of the whole body and therefore temperatures get more hot. Fortunately winter is coming......

I will try to make better in the ranking board with slides - well lets see - I will keep you posted about my experience.

Myself very sorry - but i do not understand whats wrong. I just looked into google for a machine making wind for cooling down. It said "blowing" is the right word for wind. Well then the machine that makes the wind is a blowing machine. AAnd i learned job is a word many americans use for all kinds of things. So please let me know what happened and what is wrong?

Just got my slides today and just set them under the C2 - feels very funny to use them. Did not get the hanger on this.

But rowing is felling much more smooth to me. I like it.

Have not tested if i can row faster with them.

Please help me to improve. Do i need to have the slides moving bach and forth nd how do i synchronize the upper and lower rail?

Best regard.

I've done many such a thing in my day. I caught many an eye, and ear, when I was learning German. I had friends cover for me more than once when my English to German translation didn't quite work out.

I've done similar errors when trying to speak Spanish.

By the way, don't be too hard on Ancho. Double meanings are a standard form of humor in Spanish and I don't think there was anything mean intended.

Laupi, do you know about Xeno Muller's DVD's? He and Lucas teach you technique and you get a great workout at the same time. They are on slides. I use them all the time and I love them.

Byron

To a native English speaker, it seems quite humorous, but your description of how you came to use the phrase is quite logical. (By the way, English is one of the least logical languages ever spoken.) A non-native speaker such as yourself would have no reason to be familiar with this kind of slang expression, anymore than I would be likely to know the equivalent phrase in German, despite having studied the language for seven years (from grade 5 through grade 12).

We've all been amused, now, so this would be a good time for everyone to climb back on their ergs and row.

Come'on!!

It's evident that Laupi didn't want to write this, and I think that is also evident (at least for me who I'm a good friend of him and know him very well) that Ancho didn't want to laugh at Laupi. It was just some spicy Spanish humor .

Anyway as I also was involved in the joke I want to apologize if someone as felt offended. I'm sure that Ancho will do the same.

As I am not English speaker I can make this kind of mistakes very easily, if I do it please laugh a little and then explain it to me because I will like to laugh also

Kind, warm and good vibrating regards to all
Hey, sorry to everyone who may have been offended, there was no bad intention, just can't let the fingers off the keyboard in time...
So, now everyone has apologized properly, let's get on with the thread on it's own.

I hopefully will have a try on slides by the end of the year (they are not as popular as bad jokes in Spain), but I strongly hope it will be more as rowing on water.

Laupi:
Es war nicht bös' gemeint, aber blasen hat ja auch auf deutsch verschiedene Bedeutungen... ;o)

Viel spass beim rudern und an den Slides!!
