Specificity...
Volume...

I've been focusing on SkiErg sprint training this month, but work, life and injury have knocked my volume down even further to a completely feeble 86k. Nevertheless, I was grimly aware that I hadn't done a single 30' TT this season, and I should try at least to get somewhere around 7400.

I felt pretty good, and surprised myself with a PB.

30:00.0 7,582m 1:58.7 209 1020 22

5:00.0 1,249m 2:00.0 202 995 22
10:00.0 1,260m 1:59.0 207 1013 22
15:00.0 1,269m 1:58.2 212 1029 22
20:00.0 1,264m 1:58.6 209 1020 22
25:00.0 1,254m 1:59.6 204 1003 23
30:00.0 1,287m 1:56.5 221 1060 25

Kept the chimp at bay by slowing down by a few splits with 8' to go. Would I have broken 7600 if I hadn't? Probably, but might have HD'd instead - it's a fine line.

What have I done to merit this? Kettlebell goblet squats...?!?

Delighted, but completely befuddled.

Very good Alex.

Stroke rate vs pace through the middle looks a bit painful. I suppose it's only one stroke difference per 100m, but it looks like heaps.

What's your lp? Mine is barely better than my 1' pace, so I think I'm pretty much maxed out for sprints unless I get stronger.
Thx Max...felt pretty good in the middle then the erg started moving down the hall and things got messy

LP is probably around 1:25/26 I think so probably more strength needed to get this much below 1:30.

Thanks all,
I didn't think I was anywhere near PB form, as my training has been pretty random lately, and volume has dipped precipitously, so it was a pleasant surprise.

Dino - ah yes... the 5k monkey. It'd be nice to get that one knocked off. I may have to be creative to find an excuse for not giving it a go in the next couple of days.

Another "quick, rank something, it's the end of the season" entry.

SkiErg, first ever 30' TT.

Aiming for a negative split, 2:06 for the first 10', 2:05 for the next 10', and 2:04ish for the final 10' with a sprint as soon as I dared. Dropped the ball a bit between 20' and 25', but just had enough left in the final 5'.

My abs are telling me that I've been boxing, not skiing.
