New Owner Tip?

Post by winniewinser » April 22nd, 2021, 6:23 am

Hi All,

Just got my Skierg yesterday and haven't had a chance to use it in anger yet. But is there any tips that I should think about when starting out?

What's the best method of finding the right DF for oneself?

Cheers

I started much lower than for the rower, partly because it's a gym machine so it doesn't go very high, but partly because it is tough on the shoulders.

I'm still only on about 90 but I think I started about 70.

Just give it a spin, drag certainly low, rating say 50% above your rowing spm. Expect 10/15 seconds above your current rowing pace. Try out a 5k and see how it suits you. Not everybody is slower on the skierg, so you have to find out yourself

Thanks Henry.

I have used one in a commercial gym before and had a terrible 2k of 8:32 and a 5k of 21:41 so target to shoot for anyway :)

Looking forward to giving her a spin later B)

Ok, so you know the deal. Maybe having it home can get you stronger a bit.

Only got my SkierG 2 weeks ago and the only tip I'd have is to start off slow (unless you're a gym rat and used to it). I started at 5 mins on day1 and today I hit 20 mins for first time. So I add a minute per day till I'm upto 30 mins. Even with just 5 mins, my triceps, delts, back muscles were stiff a few mins after I finished, not sore, but could definately feel it.

Enjoy!

Yeah, definitely feeling it after a couple of sessions. Did a 2k today in 8:34 and that hurt like hell. I'm not strong in arms/shoulders so this is really working non-rowing muscles 🥵
