anyone drink coffee/soda/tea or use Jolt Gum or anything caffinated before erging a 2k or 5oom intervals - that kind of a workout? does it work? how much soda/coffee/whatever you use do you drink and how long before your workout do you use it?

It's a stimulant that raises my heartrate, and I don't like the way it makes me feel during a hard workout. I tried it a few times (treadmill and weights, so I don't have info on erging) but I think it actually reduced my overall effectiveness. Made me peak to early.

my 2 cents - it may work better for you :-)

Zot

I like just plain water the best, but if I do a really long piece, I will take a sport drink that has potassium and sodium. If I don't sometimes I'll end up with leg cramps later in the day because of sweating those out.

I personally don't do anything different for a test that I wouldn't do for a normal training session. That includes adding caffinated additives, or any other stimulant to my training. If it's working for you in your training, why muck it up?

When I am tired, I drink coffee about 1 to 1 1/2 hours before a session. I have found it works. L-carnitine also works, but it is expensive. You can get L-carnitine at Wal-Mart, Target, etc.
