Congratulations, Norma !!!
Congratulations, Jodi !!!
Norma, it's hard to believe, but I see that way back in 2004, the Falkland Islands already anticipated this event and created a commemorative coin for you.

. I’ll check in on the team during my recovery.

Jodi, it took a little longer, but I finally found the commemorative coin for 5 MM plus a healed trigger finger. Enjoy your celebratory pint.

Another bunny trail of the mind....
Haven't had a good bunny trail in a long time, and danwho's commemorative coin find for Jodi's celebration sure sent me on the trail. I had no idea about the minting and usage of Civil War tokens, which this coin surely is. With the Union north doing poorly, US minted coins were taken out of circulation in 1862 in the north. From what I can gather quickly, it appears that merchants would commission coinage (looks like mostly copper) ... and so began the use of store cards, etc.! Some of these coins were pretty basic, and others were designed to resemble US coinage ...and I know you'll all be surprised, but designed to trick recipients into thinking the store coins were the real thing. By 1864, private minting was banned for just those kinds of reasons. The store credit token pictured here is currently worth about $1500.
