Looking for CAD overall cost confirmation

Post by BL40 » January 15th, 2021, 12:07 pm

Hey C2 community,
I'm on the waiting list for a rower (can't wait!) and am trying to not get surprised by customs fees. So far by my calculations, taking into consideration the exchange rate, duties, brokerage fees, and provincial tax, I think the total cost will be somewhere around $1650CAD.
Customer support have confirmed whatever they can (which helped me with the above estimate), but it's only a small piece of the total import picture.
Any Canadian purchasers out there who can confirm if the amount I got to is at all accurate/if this is what they ended up paying...?
(I realize rates can change quickly, but even a ballpark confirmation will be super helpful).
Thanks!

I just ordered one through Roguefitness and was on the waiting list and never received a notification but I went on the site and see Add to cart so I jumped on it. All Canadian funds and order placed Jan 22/2021
$1249.00
$4.67 seat pad
$128.85 shipping & handling
Total $1562.79

Can’t wait to get it as I’m a fat kayaker and looking to get more into shape.

I got mine through Amazon®. Paid a bit more (not much as it was on sale). Now the prices are through the roof.

Your timing must have been spectacular, all I ever see from Rogue is "Notify me", and I haven't gotten so much as a wait-list confirmation from them yet. :( Concept just delayed my purchase date by another week, too, but I'm still holding out...sellers up in Ontario are asking ~$2000 these days. Ridiculous.

To all my fellow Canucks:

I live in Toronto. I got impatient waiting for Rogue and the wait list with Concept2® was pretty long (not their fault). So I shopped it around on the Canadian Amazon site. They were originally asking around $1,800ish when all of a sudden I see it for $1,572 before taxes, so I jumped on it. After taxes, it came to $1,772 (all in) and no sooner than that, the prices shot up to over $2K. It is evident that fitness gear like C2 and Peloton, etc, have seen an uptick in sales dues to COVID-19, and some resellers are clearly taking advantage of the situation.

Had I had more patience, I would have ordered through Rogue Canada. They are the best option, if you are patient.

I bought one (Canada) and it arrived late January 2021.
$900 USD for the Rower plus the quote delivery fee of $65 USD. I did not convert these for you as they will be dependent on the exchange rate when you pay.

Total Amount Due at customs: 252.14 CAD payable to UPS - that included PST (7%) and GST (5%).

This includes all costs I had to deal with.

Thanks! This is in line with what I'm now expecting. Fingers crossed that my purchase link comes in next week! :)

My rower has arrived (direct from Concept2), it only took a week (ordered March 4)! It came via FedEx, who explained that the customs fees and tax bill could arrive anywhere from a few days to a few months from now.

Coincidentally, Rogue has also restocked, and according to their site it would have cost me $1558.54 to order from them. So as long as my customs/tax bill comes to under $300, ordering direct was the right choice :) Fingers crossed!

Just to wrap up this thread, got the customs bill today: $229.84. That brings the grand total to $1,495.86. Buying direct was the right choice! Shame on all the opportunists, including Fitness Depot!!

Hi, I just got mine directly from C2 and would like to know if anyone else had any scuffs, scratches, or hand prints on theirs? I'm wondering if I recieved a refurbished one??

That doesn't sound acceptable if you paid for a new model. Call them directly, express your concerns & they will do right by you.

I think vkalli is going to need to provide some proof that he/she is not a spammer.

Not a spammer. I asked a legitimate question out of concern about my recent purchase. I'm a bit insulted.
