Hello everyone. Just signed up to join the team. Been a cyclist since I was a kid. Raced in College. Competed in Triathlons for 13 years. But now the knees only like the non impact sports. I finally did the research and just received our C2 a couple of weeks ago to go along with my new gravel bike. Upon researching teams it was an easy choice. I teach Middle School Robotics and Computer Science and we have a competitive program that competes in VEX Robotics. My first group of students from years ago are now off to college and sending correspondence from their Engineering schools as they make their way to possibly working for NASA. Still figuring out the proper form and technique but well on my way to completing the Mud Season Madness Challenge. Just taking it slow so I don’t injure myself. Gotta stay clear of the usetacould effect. “Well I used to be able to run a whole lot faster.” Not 21 anymore.

Thanks for letting me join in the fun!
Danny

Welcome! Good to see another Coloradan ! Gravel bikes are sure a big trend in cycling. For those not familiar with what gravel biking is, it is not just riding on gravel - it's also smooth single track type terrain. One of our Bike Jeffco guys, Steve Roe, wrote an article about gravel biking recently, just in case you are interested in some of these areas. Whole article should be posted on www.bikejeffco.org

"Colorado has many great destinations for long gravel bike rides including Boulder, Fort Collins, and Steamboat Springs. Although Jefferson County is not considered a destination spot for gravel biking, there are lots of places to ride, especially in our thousands of acres of open space. Some of the County, State and local parks with significant gravel riding include South Valley Park, Hildebrand Park, Chatfield State Park, Bear Creek Lake Park, Green Mountain, and South Table Mountain. If you go further east there’s a network of trails south of Highlands Ranch, and of course the 72-mile Highline Canal trail that starts near Waterton Canyon and goes all the way to Green Valley Ranch near the airport. There are also many miles of ridable gravel roads in the Pike National Forest around Deckers. A great website for finding gravel riding is gravelmap.com"

By the way, if you would like to join the affiliation, then we can "see" your meters and post them here. Right now, you are a member of the team but not of the affiliation. If you want to join the affiliation, when next in your logbook, go to your profile and edit it. You just scroll down to where it says affiliation, and then select Luna-Tics. Either way, we are glad to have you! If your expectation was to see your name and numbers here, though, there's only one way that can happen!

Day 7 of 31 !

A few days ago, I posted the overall data from Mudness Madness Challenge of 2019...a mere couple of years ago. Today, the overall participants still in the hunt at the 5K and more a day participation rate is an astounding 31,321 individuals. Naturally, naturally!, this number will surely drop tomorrow as Concept2 comes in and drops those individuals with only 1 day of participation. And there will be a precipitous slide until we reach day 15 or so...then we will see who hangs on! Lunies have traditionally drawn a line in their erging sand that says more will complete this Challenge than the overall average of Concept2 participants. That is the way with teams, though - gives an extra edge to participants...and hopefully some good motivation!

Day 8 of 31 !

Well, sure...make me a fibber. Today's totals actually took a slight uptick over yesterday! 32,743 overall participants at the 5K level, and 12,796 at the 10K level. Similarly, the Lunies have 71 and 40 in those categories respectively. Fibber. Ha! I may be a BS'er from time to time, but not usually a fibber....

Image Starts March 15th!
And in one week, we'll reach two-fer status for our meters!
This is the time to sign on to this TEAM based challenge. When next in your logbook, scroll over to the heading teams, then down to the square on the right that says Join Team Challenge. Sign on...sign on....sign on !!!

Day 10 of 31 !

Ah! We're finally out over the skis now...hoping for a safe and soft landing at the end of the ski jump!

Yesterday: 5K overall participants = 34,078, and 10K overall = 13,374 ...respectively, Lunies are at 75 and 41
Today: 5K overall participants = 25,742 and 10K overall = 8,499...respectively, Lunies are at 64 and 37
Lots of Challenge winners...still waiting for a Lunie to get selected! https://log.concept2.com/challenges/mud ... 21/winners

A couple days ago, several noticed that multiple winners were being chosen in the daily drawing...and that sometimes that drawing occurred prior to the end of the day they were drawing a prize for! I did contact Concept2 about this one - asking for a clarification of the rulesets for winning - and heard back yesterday. Concept2 says they heard from a "few" others as well. I can only imagine. They said, "yep" we pulled a few of the winners early but will be careful not to let that happen again. Was an oversight. And, as we noticed, they are choosing about three times as many winners as we have in the past...so from here on out, your chances of winning ae actually better than in past years! Note: we have almost three times as many people in the Concept2 universe participating, so not sure that is quite true - BUT - it's keeping us even with the chances! Good stuff, and we thank Concept2 every day for being part of our workouts!

Day 11 of 31 ! Keep going - don't box yourself in a corner !!!

Hang on to yer erg handle or handlebar! We've seen a 38 percent decrease in overall 5K participants from peak totals, and a 52 percent decrease in 10K participants. The Lunies are doing better than that! We've seen a 20 percent decrease in 5K participants, and a 24 percent decrease in our 10K participants. Lunie numbers below are in parenthesis.

5K = 25,742 (64) 10K = 8499 (37) Yesterday
