Was actually looking to get one of those but yet to select one. Which one did you get?
It's called Fitindex, and from what I can tell it's the same power rating as a (much more expensive) Theragun. I usually only use it on 14/20, so it's really powerful.

I've just checked and it's back up to £83, but I think there's £15 off using a voucher.

I reckon the best way to avoid arm damage is not use them for heay loads. On the erg, transfer it all to the legs and use the arms as pieces of rope. In any case it's the CV system that's the limit, not muscle. Pushing with the legs is far less risky than pulling with arms.

Did some timber splitting recently, with 5kg sledge and wedges. No good at all, took me a month to get over it. But fifteen years erging, no aches and pains anywhere. Having re-started at age 63 after 40 years off rowing, probably not strong enough to do myself any harm anyway.

Usually the ball shaped one, and the bullet shaped one if you're feeling masochistic!

Hi Winnie,

Re. your mention of hurting elbows, I agree with jamesg. Treat the arms as pieces of rope and that way avoid using them too soon. If you can feel the start of the catch as a pull in your shoulders, you're ok. If you don't, then it's your poor elbows that take the brunt. And they usually don't like it... 😕

It maybe youre pulling with your hands and forearms too early. This happened tome when i rowed on water. Suggest drop stroke rate to say 16spm and consciously loop only 3 fingers over handle and no thumbs. Concentrate on everything but arms.

I faced the same issue since I was training due to overweight and my forearm started paining for about 1 week. It was not only my nerves but the bone as well. I drank milk for a week to strengthening my bones which helped but the nerves were still paining. I applied pain relief cream and had my sister massage my arm which later helped.
I've consciously loosened my grip while rowing and try not to hold on so tight now. I also use a massage gun to help relieve tightness. Probably the biggest impact for me is working from home on a laptop in poor positions :(

Mine is better now but still not 100%

I've noticed, probably since SRIC/BRIC, that my forearms are getting really sore after any sessions at the moment. It feels muscular more than anything and is mainly around my elbow area. Working from my watch to my elbow the muscle on the top is tight/sore.

I don't feel like I'm gripping too hard, but undoubtedly did during the 2k races. Short of taking more rest any thoughts on what is causing it?

If may be that the increase in sessions combined with recent racing is the problem but I never had issues prior to SRIC.

Thoughts?

TIA

i recommend a massage gun. I use a mains powered black and decker jigsaw with a massage tip from amazon.

Just take off the base plate to avoid pinching. Some of the massage guns currently sold are battery powered jigsaws dolled up.

Works superbly!
