Image Day 2 or 3 of 31.....

Nothing says increased participation quite like free stuff. When will the first Lunie winner be picked? A check of the Lunie Chronicles would reveal that we've had at least ONE winner picked in the March Challenge (originally March Madness now Mudness Madness)...except for one year. So LUNIE odds are good !

I've slowly been increasing my time back on the erg after a couple months of not rowing hard for any number of reasons (holidays, laziness, vaccine soreness, blood donations, minor injuries and soreness related to house repairs), so this challenge I think is exactly what I needed to get my motivation back up and finish the season strong the next 2 months.
Started rowing 4/22/19.
PBs: 1min - 314m, 500m - 1:40.0, 1,000m - 3:45.3, 4min - 1,082m, 2,000m - 7:41.0, 5.000m - 21:18.2, 6,000m - 25:41.6, 30min - 7,010m, 10k - 44:40.5, 60min - 13,112m

I believe the criterion is 5000 meters for each of 25 days in March for the basic level and 10000 per day for 25 days for the higher level. I didn't see a reference to 25 days in the summary below. I may have miss3d it. If so, I apologize.
True - for the Challenge completion. You can, however, still win a prize on each of the days - without completing the Challenge. I know, runs counterintuitive to some of our thoughts about completion equals winning, but sometimes you have to start with just that one day...and erging the meters for that one day!
It would be theoretically possible to condition the right to a prize on the later completion of the challenge but that deferred finality would be complicated and confusing. I therefore agree with Concept2's pragmatic approach. And, 26 days is challenging but achievable; 31 days would be insurmountable for too many given their other responsibilities and commitments.

Nickel and Dime(d),5 and 10, 5 and dime...Woolworth's !

The 5K and 10K led me to thoughts of a store brand that was once ubiquitous - especially in rural USA. Lunch counters, treasures of all kinds that particularly appealed to kids...these were things you could choose and buy yourself. These stores went away at least 20 years ago - although I think that some might be reopening as a diner in some areas. Nashville perhaps. Ok. I did get sidetracked a bit. Kidhood was spent on a lot of military bases, and there weren't a lot of stores. There was the base exchange, and the commissary. But it was only during visits to Grandma's house that we would find out about Woolworth's and little bags of warm spanish peanuts because Grandma liked those. Maybe some of you have distant memories of these things!

Winners are being announced! https://log.concept2.com/challenges/mud ... 21/winners

The overall Concept2 Universe now has 25,178 participants in the 5K and above, and 8672 participants in the 10K and above. Lunies have 65 and 31, respectively. Keep going!

Seeing Triplicates?!

Post by Kona2 » March 4th, 2021, 9:30 pm

Looking at the winners column (naturally we are ALL winners), it appears that Concept2 is being very generous! THREE 5K prizes are being awarded - don't know if for different categories, but dang! The odds are more in our favor!

I noticed that also, and was curious about it. I don't remembering seeing anything mentioning a change like that.
I also noticed that the awards for 4-March were there well before the 4th was over at C2 HQ.

And it was also true yesterday, 5 March, that the winners were picked before the afternoon was even over! This makes it tough for those doing their erging at end of day. It is great to see the expanded prize batches, but I think I might drop concept2 a note asking for a clarification of how the prize category is going to be different this year...

Oh spring is in the air....as are other olfactory delights comprised of sulfury compounds. Yes, the berm is once again a freeway of love for Pepe the skunk...and this year, it's the space under the neighbor's shed that has apparently been chosen for the nesting area. Where once bunnies flourished, and sped in and out of the yard only to dash to safety under the shed...now, miraculously (?), the she skunk slips through the gap with a flash of the black and white stripe of the tail as I with my spotlight survey the backyard prior to setting the hounds free. Skunk gestation period is about two months, which would fit with a litter drop around mid-May...then it's 8 weeks before the skunk kittens are out and about. Place yer bets ladies and gents - but the only prize will be "you got that right." I'm sure the skunk babies will be cute.
