I would rather use my phone and cradle to watch the news during a workout, but I think I have to keep ErgData the active program for my workout to be recorded. That's why I went looking for a Windows version of ErgData, since I can see all the performance data I need on the PM.
Am I right in concluding that ErgData has to remain visible on my phone to record a workout?
Is there really no Windows version for ErgData??

A windows version is not needed, everyone runs it on their mobile phone.
Just get a device with a bigger screen to watch TV on.
I don't look at ErgData while rowing, the phone is sitting on a tabletop within Bluetooth range. ErgData only gets used because it has a stroke counter and the logbook is so easy to synchronize with the Concept 2 online logbook and it contains a load of information you don't get from RowPro which is running on a 32inch flat screen.

I put mine onto other screens say if i have a text and it keeps tracking the workout. Maybe try it on a 1 minute row.DES51 wrote: ↑February 8th, 2021, 5:39 pmI would rather use my phone and cradle to watch the news during a workout, but I think I have to keep ErgData the active program for my workout to be recorded. Generally android apps can run in the background once you launch them. Did you try this and have it fail ? (I've never tried it because I run ergdata on a spare kindle rather than on my phone).DES51 wrote: ↑February 8th, 2021, 5:39 pmI would rather use my phone and cradle to watch the news during a workout, but I think I have to keep ErgData the active program for my workout to be recorded.
