Thanks to all for the great advice, especially Henry, who suggested free rate and slowing down a smidgeon between 3-4k.

Complete jelly legs at the end. Didn't have the cojones to start putting the hammer down until about 200m to go - no way was I getting under 20:30, but this beats the hell out of yesterday's HD.
Well done Max. As you know, I always think that there should be a consequence to a HD, but PBing the day after is a massive effort

🚨 New 2k PB by 1.1s 🚨
It got a bit bitey in the middle, inner demons shouting about but pride kicked in to allow me to finish strong. Whether this will be good enough for WRICH qualification only time will tell but for today I'm happy 😁

Thx @jdmad7 for getting me to this point (more to come!) and for the pep talk. Shout out to all the boys in The Delivery Room for their support too 🙏

500m this week. Never ranked one of those on the SkiErg, so will be another PB... but it'll hurt.

As a couple of you know, I was entering the 500m at Canadian Nationals today.

I had 2 goals:
1. win
2. establish a legitimate 500m pb.

Unfortunately, the internet gods had other ideas and I was removed from the race due to connection issues. I rowed it anyway to at least check off #2. Reasonably happy with my result (1:14.6), particularly the relative lack of fade. If anybody has a minute they want to kill here is the video (begins the moment I start)

Amazing time and power!! I feel so bad about the connection issue.

If I can sort my head out and commit I know there is more in there. I got myself wound up tight leading up to this and it showed in the middle. Onwards to WRICH :D

I don't know why, but I had an urge to do an FM. I expected a 2:48 result, at best, given my recent sessions, a bad night's sleep, and a 4/10 HRV. Some days just don't follow the rule book, and I think this is a 1 minute 42 second PB.

Annoyingly I didn't have any wobbles, so I could have gone faster. I really expected it to get messy with circa 7k to go, but it just didn't happen. I didn't even want to stop, and a 2:43 is in my sights with some more normal preparation.

Very happy with this, but that won't last for long. I have far too restless satisfaction, and I'm trying to grab what I can whilst I'm still improving.

Nice, congrats, you should do one with 100% focus and rested, you got the form to put a really sharp one in. Rating/hf look really easy here.

Can't say what's more impressive, being almost 2' faster or the fact that there's still a good bit more to come!? Big congrats! :D
