I never have a problem with chaffing but, for those who do, would advise against using petroleum jelly, it being a potent carcinogen.

Compression shorts would be way too tight.

Robinson's was having a sale a few months ago and I got a pair of Jockey briefs for 7 bucks.

They are made from nylon and lycra.

They fit well and were quite comfortable rowing, so I went back the next day and got two more pair of them.

These shorts look just like regular rowing shorts and are the most comfortable ones that I've had.

A rowing "all-in-one" (AIO) or bib cycling shorts do the trick. The shoulder straps ensure that your tackle remains hitched throughout

I just use a regular athletic supporter. No problems with it at all.

while we are on the topic, i would like to ask a question that could also cause some more discomfort, but ultimtatly a good conversation ....every once in a while my crew will run (usually 3 miles or more) and when im done one of my 'good's in the 'goodie bag' tends to feel like its on effing fire...is this friction? i mean damn it hurts!
