Last 100m was just a tad slower than overall so judged it well. You can get by with a little more "fly and die" on the 500m but the fade can crush you.Tony Cook wrote: ↑February 3rd, 2021, 2:09 pmThanks Keith. Well done Tony, good improvement! As Keith said a bit more fly and die can help but can also crush you, it's a matter of experience and trial and error. A higher rating in the middle can propably work too.Tony Cook wrote: ↑February 3rd, 2021, 10:18 amSqueezed 1.6 secs off my 500m PB. 7 weeks of Wolverine?

12k today. 49:26
I know the distance kind of does not count. But it is my standard longer distance row. Today I felt like pushing it and I did end up with a little faster pace tan my best 10k.

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Really pleased with this. Great talk from JD prior about not panicking when the splits increase. My training has proven that i can dig deep and finish strong so today was about trusting in that
Having said that, after a good start things started to feel impossibly hard pretty quickly. Desperately wanted to HD with 1200 to go but the emotion of failing was a strong motivator to keep going. And the plan was to finish regardless and just use this a training session if it all went south.
I was in a good rhythm throughout and with 400 to go my average was 1.35.3. so the next 400 was all about going hard to bring the average down. That in itself was quite motivating.
Glad to get this done. More relief than anything. The feeling of an HD is far stronger than the feeling of accomplishment i find so the next focus will be sub 6.19. If i can just hold the middle part a little stronger then that shouldnt be too far away.
Will continue to focus on 2km training whilst we're in one of the hottest summer months. The weather doesnt allow me to focus on anything longer, so that will need to wait.

Its actually not been a hot summer here in Sydney - not as hot as usual i mean. But February is always the hottest, most humid month. But compared to previous years we've had very few 40+ days where i live
Hot/cold - no issues when it comes to drinking beer

I was in a good rhythm throughout and with 400 to go my average was 1.35.3. so the next 400 was all about going hard to bring the average down. That in itself was quite motivating.
Glad to get this done. More relief than anything. The feeling of an HD is far stronger than the feeling of accomplishment i find so the next focus will be sub 6.19. If i can just hold the middle part a little stronger then that shouldnt be too far away.
Will continue to focus on 2km training whilst we're in one of the hottest summer months. The weather doesnt allow me to focus on anything longer, so that will need to wait.

It's been a journey.....and what a final destination! Bloomin awesome to get this done and dusted. I felt the turmoil and traumas.....but it's been overcome and in great style Onwards for more Egg Beersiangallagher wrote: ↑February 3rd, 2021, 8:26 pmReally pleased with this.

Great post. Excellent result. I think it's so easy to get lost in your own fears and thoughts, and dismiss the reality that other people have to really suffer to get the result.iangallagher wrote: ↑February 3rd, 2021, 8:26 pmReally pleased with this. That feeling of desperately wanting / needing to HD with 800 to go is so all consuming I find I almost think no one else can be suffering as much as I am, and if they did they'd HD. Reading how hard this was for you is a great insight into what is required, and how horrific it can, and probably will, feel.
You've come a remarkably long way in a comparatively short erging career. You really are an inspiration for what can be done with A LOT of hard work, grit and perseverance.
