Re: Forum Flyers
Yes, I used 5 min rest. I don't have a good 2k time yet, but need one for the other challenges so I'll work on that before coming back to the ctc challenge. Thanks!

Welcome to the team Rich!wolfrich wrote: ↑February 2nd, 2021, 3:46 pmJust wanted to say hi as I'm a new member, new to rowing and happy to contribute to the team. Been a cyclist for a long time and core/arms/grip are suffering. Received my C2 Mdl D mid December and have been working on technique and getting rowing muscles activated(i.e. sore..haha).
Starting to feel better on the rower but did first 2k early in the AM at 7:59.6 so I metered what I thought I could do on my first attempt at 3x2k. Learned I could go faster in a 2k as I got faster each one: 8:11, 8:01, and 7:52. Next attempt probably try to start at 8:00, then 7:52 then whatever is left. Any advice on pacing from veterans appreciated.
Thanks. Looks like a great team.

Canadian In (your own) doors this weekend, anyone partaking. Lunchtime row so quite civilised
Whale brothers will be there but i think it might end up being one sprint too many, but a SB wold be good. Flu/Covid in Dec blew me away a bit and the the cough has taken ages to clear, still not 100%

I won't be competing as I am preping for World Rowing Virtual Indoor Sprints (1k) in March. If it wasn't for WRVIS, I would have entered the Canadian's.meerkats wrote: ↑February 3rd, 2021, 7:21 amCanadian In (your own) doors this weekend, anyone partaking. Lunchtime row so quite civilised

What goal do you have in mind? With your speed and fitness you could do well.faach1 wrote: ↑February 3rd, 2021, 7:52 amI won't be competing as I am preping for World Rowing Virtual Indoor Sprints (1k) in March. I’m aiming for sub 3:10, but I think 3:07/8 is likely from the way training is going at the moment.hjs wrote: ↑February 3rd, 2021, 9:05 amWhat goal do you have in mind? Re: Forum Flyers
Already done a 500? You certainly should be able to crack 3.10 “easily”.
Re: Forum Flyers
I haven’t done a 500, was planning to, but instead did 750m in 2:19

Re: Forum Flyers
You can do, rate restricted sprints, relative often. Doing distances builds confidence and “feel” for the time needed. You pretty often see people Hd, who simply don’t know the feeling of the distance.
A 750 is flesh nor fish, not really fast and to short to have and idea. A 1k “starts” at 700 m in.
Given you 1 min, 500m should/could be 2/3 seconds slower on the average.
Re: Forum Flyers
Interesting. Should 2k and 5k pace only be 4secs apart? Then I am really off. Did it yesterday at 2k +2, which is 5k -6. I could probably do both faster by now thoughI’d reckon the pacing is around 2k + 3 or 5k - 1. Hope this helps!
Suck. I caught covid mid-december. Fortunately, it didn't get into my lungs. Avoiding max. heartrate again after I could barely move after that New Year pyramid. Hope you're fully recovered soonFlu/Covid in Dec blew me away a bit and the the cough has taken ages to clear, still not 100%
Re: Forum Flyers
Not necessarily as everyone is different, it’s a rough guideline and depends on whether the person in question is more aerobically or anaerobically suited.

Re: Forum Flyers
Hey Forum Flyers! New member here, just wanted to introduce myself and say hello. I'm new to rowing. My previous athletic background (years ago) was mostly casual running. I resolved to get back into shape this fall, by whatever means necessary. With the public gyms shut down, that ultimatum has resulted in a bit of a frenzied flurry of online fitness purchases (running shoes, all the weights I could fit into the 2x5 space in front of where we park the car in the garage, an exercise bike...). Mixed results on those fronts. But my Concept2 D arrived earlier this week and I've gotten in a couple of great 20 minute sessions so far. Reading through the forum, I can tell I've got a lot to learn on the rowing form/training plan front. My current goal is to establish a base of fitness and put in 10k meters a day. But I'm really looking forward to figuring out more structured training programs and taking part in team events!
Glad to be on the Team!

Where are you based on the world, and any other interesting background you're willing to share in a public forum ?

Welcome Evan! This is the place to ask if you have any questions as you get into training, but there are also a lot of wise people across the wider forum who will contribute if you ask your questions there too.wight14 wrote: ↑February 7th, 2021, 8:56 pmHey Forum Flyers! New to rowing but would get on the Erg occasionally many moons ago when I was a collegiate Javelin thrower at Oregon State University.
Been racing bicycles since 1989 and have slowly lost core and upper body strength of my youth. Rowing is improving that already!
Glad to contribute to all challenges as best i can.
