A section for training journals?
A section for training journals?
I've always logged my training when I've been doing any sport. I find it useful to refer back to and motivational to read other peoples logs.
Could we please have a training journal section on the forum? I enjoy the 'what training have you done today?' section but find it extremely difficult to keep track of what other people are doing when their sessions appear in a disjointed and non-continuous fashion.

That's a shame. It seems like an odd omission for the site as all the strength/fitness sites I've been on previously have had a training log section.
It's very hard to build up a picture of other people's training patterns from snippets on the 'today's training' thread. Equally, given that rowing is a new endeavour for me, it would be helpful if more experienced rowers could look at my training and pass comment on it.

I'm neither for nor against folks posting training logs on the forum, but if you have specific questions about your own training then I think the best thing is to simply start a thread where you describe your situation and ask for help or advice. There are plenty of people here who would be more than happy to help.
As I'm sure you already know, there are several different "Training Plans" out there, and the C2 site also provides lots of guidance on the topic. There are also some online coaching resources available (for a fee).

If you use the C2 logbook you can add others as training partners and can see their uploaded trainings. If they used ergdata or ergzone to upload the training you can also see their workout graphs (if you don't know the C2 logbook: it's a graph of the workout with pace, SPM and HR if available). Respectfully, I think you guys are missing the point slightly.
Having one section of the forum where individuals can log their training (beyond simply the numbers) is very motivating for the individual, but also gives space for banter, encouragement and reflection on goals, progress and setbacks.
I was a member of a forum called veganfitness.net (sadly the forum is dead now) 15 odd years ago when I was weightlifting a lot more. The years of training logs on there are something I still look back at sometimes for reference or sometimes just for nostalgia. It's not just about the data - it's a great way to chart a person's progression in a sport.

We did ask the folks at Concept2 Inc at the time of the ISS destruction of the UK forum whether they'd add the blogs add-on on here and they refused. It was also around the time that most of the rowing discussions started to move away to be assimilated into Zuckerberg's FaceBorg collective and the traffic on here dropped off like a stone.

I'm not interested in Instagram really. It's too much of a focus on the individual.
Let me make the case more plainly:
There are lots of people here who row regularly, incorporating other elements of training into their workouts too. Everyone has different objectives, and naturally, we end up interacting with the people who's training most closely aligns with our own.
With the 'post your personal best' and 'post your training today' threads, it's almost impossible to keep track of what other people are doing, and doubly difficult to post encouragement without missing other peoples workouts.
If there was a training journals sections to the forum (and I'm happy to link a couple of sports forums where it's worked really well), each person would have all their training in one place, and all the feedback, encouragement and banter in one place. It's a much less convoluted way of keeping track of your training, but also the training of others. It's much easier to determine when others are making progress, and how that's happening, because it's all in one place.
I've found that over the years that I have regularly trained, a training journal is the single most valuable thing I can do to ensure consistency and progress. I keep a journal elsewhere, but it's not a rowing forum and this is.
It would be so easy to have a section here for them and I've bet my wedding vegetables that within a month you'd have 50 people posting their training on a regular basis. It's always the busiest section of any sports forum.

Just to note, as a complete new user (but a long time BBS / forum lurker in various places), this was the first thing I looked for upon joining and was also a bit surprised it wasn't there. It seems to be a staple of most fitness or hobby forums where there is long term personal or project progress to track. As noted it's the community and interaction aspects that work well in a forum setting rather than disparate blogs etc. and tends to drive a lot of activity.
As a beginner I was looking for, specifically, threads showing someone's progress from zero to date (on the Pete plan or similar). Still haven't come across a single instance of that and had thought it would be very common.
Anyway, just thought I'd drop in my 0.02c given this was recently relevant.
I suppose people could have one on the training forum but it would get cluttered fast.
