I trimmed my 10k down to something approximating a representative time.
I punched in 45 minutes as the session to be rowed, but as usual, started accelerating through the row and thought that I might as well try for a 36 minute 10k as that fits very neatly into the 9 minute intervals.
But I kept accelerating and ended up with:
35:37-----10000-----1:46.8-----24spm-----168bpm
-9:00-------2472-----1:49.2-----23spm-----156bpm
18:00------2494-----1:48.2-----23spm------162bpm
27:00------2515-----1:47.3-----25spm------173bpm
35.37------2519-----1:42.5-----28spm------183bpm
2:10 off my (what was admittedly very soft) previous PB.
I think that there is a bit more in there, as I didn't start out with the intention of doing any kind of PB. The original intention was 45 minutes at 1:50 but I got distracted.
Very impressive. No more to add than the others have said.
A question though (maybe a stupid one). How can you punch in for a 45 minute row but then clock a 10k PB time at 35:37? Do you just watch the clock and record when you reached 10k? If it is that simple then does that mean it’s an unverified time, as the clock will run through to 45mins and record the distance as the verified piece?

Maybe we'll be on the same journey soon, after I am finished with my 60 min might go down to 10k
![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
9 months since my PB there now so hopefully with some 10k specific training I can also improve!
Excellent! It's always good to have some friendly rivalry
From your sig I take it you're in Norway? Rowing seems to be fairly popular in Scandinavia, if the Concept2 rankings are anything to go by. We're moving to Sweden in May 2022 (from SW England) and I'm hoping to do a bit of rowing on the water in summers there.
Yes that's true
Yes, I live right outside Aalesund. Originally came from the small place where the Ekornes Stressless is made(Sykkylven), but moved about an hour away 10 years ago.
There are some very good rowers in Scandinavia, and erging is also quite big here. That is actually the reason I got addicted to erging, about a month after buying my c2 I saw in the newspaper the Norwegian indoor rowing championships were going to be held in the building next to where I work. Scored a 6:31 there for the 2k, which is a decent score, but it landed me way down in 16.-place
![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)
needless to say the level was quite high gor a nathional championship, 11 people below 6:20, and the best two(both from the Olympian squad) were sub 6.
Exciting that you are moving to Sweden! On a permanent basis? Do you have family there or is it coincidence?
A 6:31 is outstanding for just a month after buying an Erg!
I wonder if the larger build of Scandinavians lends itself well to rowing? A long way back (around 2007) I competed in a number of local strongman comps in Scotland, and used to follow Worlds Strongest Man closely. Scandinavia punches well above it's weight when it comes to top level strongmen too.
Permanent move, yes. I'm half German, but we love Sweden. My wife's brother lives there, and apart from my German mum being fluent in Swedish, the only family connections are a couple of elderly distant cousins in Stockholm.
I'm utterly sick of the UK (we were in Scotland for 13 years but moved to SW England 2.5 years ago to try it out) and want to be back in Europe again. I've been learning Swedish (which isn't difficult with me speaking German too) and I work in forestry, so it should be an easy move. A better place for my girls (3 and 6 years old) to grow up too.

Not a stupid question at all!
I just stopped the clock as the distance went through 10k. I was over by 11 metres on the clock, so deducted two seconds from the displayed time to give me my finish time. That's on the basis that I'm covering 5.5m/second at a 1:30 pace, which is what I was doing as I went through the line.
It's an unverified time, but I have a photo of the final screen. I've only this moment figured out that I can get round the large file size by linking it as a thumbnail.

Thanks BigJ. I’ve thought about doing similar myself - going for a 30’ but thinking ‘I could do a good 5k’ 10’ in but thought I just have to soldier on to the end of 30’. My mind got fixed on ranked pieces rather than a PB, which as you demonstrate can be different. Good to know for the future.

New 100m PB of 15.0 seconds @ 64 spm. Lowest pull was 1:13.9, 40 minutes prior to this PB after I had warmed up, I did a 100m in 15.4 @ 50 spm. It is amazing how much of a difference a good first 2/3 pulls are. In both 100s the first two pulls were all greater than 80 spm, one of them was even @ 112 spm. Drag was 155 for the 15.4 attempt, and 180 for the 15.0. Sadly but expectedly I missed the LWT limit (too much food over Christmas
![Mr. Green ](./images/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif)
) and weighed 82 kg. Need to work on the aerobic side of rowing, it’s my mine goal of 2021!

I hope the above link works, I’ve never linked something to this forum before.
That aside, I’m very happy with this result. I must stress to those who think that I have good days all the time are
very much mistaken. It took me 16 attempts to break the former world record of 386m held by Jasper Liu. I have accomplished this, whilst making two school boy mistakes: I used max drag (230) which was probably about 70-80 too high and due to this I could rate up as much as I should of. The average rate was 37, much too low considering that people like Phil Clapp and Chris Scott rate from 40 to 50 in this event. Apart from that though I am of course over the moon with this feat.
I originally wasn’t going to post about what my goals are but I thought about it and I may as well let the much loving rowing community know: I’d like to push the LWT 1’ record to 400m, to become the first LWT to join the exclusive 400m club.

Water retention, eating like a pig and lots of alcohol consumption is a fast way for me to add weight. In the past, I’ve gained 10kg in 3 days from this method. Also I’m not naturally a LWT I’m 189cm, takes a lot of dieting for me to be 75kg, for most of the year I sit around 78-80kg nowadays.

And looking at the splits there should even be a bit more possible with fly and die. You know, when the last split isn't the slowest the other splits were too slow

I can't really get it any strokes much faster than 1:26 so really just wanted to see as many of those as possible. Slow start brings the total lower too.
