Image Day 6...!

https://log.concept2.com/challenges/vtc/2021/teams Freeeeee falling....

The way these team challenges work can be a teaser. You can add teammates up to a certain date....and teammates can pick up all their meters and go elsewhere up to a certain date, and we can drop precipitously in the rankings. Time to pick up the pace and close the gap!

I'm doing about 90% BikeErg / 10% rower. I expect that balance will shift towards the rower as the challenge goes on.

I'm doing equal amounts on ski, row, bike. My plan is to increase 2500 combined meters a day for as long as I can. I'd say each machine feels like the hardest one right now. I anticipate feeling better in a week or so.

Image Day 8...!

https://log.concept2.com/challenges/vtc/2021/teams We're 10th among virtual teams; 16th overall

It's come to this....perspective has to be painted. On the water teams, and there are six of them ahead of us, are kicking some virtual butt. Happily, the Diamonds are atop the heap of teams...and for some reason that seems right. Meanwhile, Zach is working on his new book: How To Become a Millionaire (meter) In 10 Days. After all, there is a lot of time to think when you are erging for hours. Naturally, this is likely to be a self published event...just like the effort is self propelled. We all do what we can do, and lordy these are strange times. Go knock yourself out is often said before some endeavor - not sure that it's ever really a cheering on vs an "I think you're nuts, but if you want to do it ...go ahead" kind of statement. We'd like to keep our teammates hale and hearty and healthy - so please do be careful...and don't knock yourself out!

I hear you. I gave in to the requirement for bike shorts a while ago, but I still wear regular shorts on top of them - even in the privacy of my own home...

I have bike shorts, but I haven't used them for awhile. The big padded bikeroo bike seat works pretty well for me and I suffer from boils down in places the bike seat hurts. Sorry for the TMI but that's my testimonial to the bike seat.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MF8TO1P/re ... UTF8&psc=1 It got really expensive but it's back to around $34 when you check the box for the $4 coupon.

Bike Erg and Bike Essentials - Some Advice

Post by Kona2 » January 9th, 2021, 3:29 pm

Gents and Gals -

There are always learnings when you start riding a lot of hours. Here are some things that you need to know.

Bike shorts -

Have at least TWO pair. If you're riding a lot of hours and you are sweating a lot, you want to wash these every time. And don't wear them before they are dry or you WILL chafe. For all of us who have had to let a child run around in the house with his/her bottom uncovered because they have diaper rash, you know empathy.

The second thing is chamois butt'r. The first time I had some guys ride by me on tour and say they had to go butt'r up, I did not have a clue. Questions on this one can be asked of the bicycle shop guys or you can read up on it. It may feel weird but it works, and using it BEFORE you are in pain is better than trying to recover.

Just remember: when it comes to shorts and saddles, seams are your enemy. Regular shorts are not designed to carry
the weight concentrated in small areas. If there's a seam there, you will get a hot spot. Been cycling and wearing cycling
shorts for 30 years, they do work. And stationary cycling is harder on your butt than moving.
