The difference of those with good technique and those without it, is that at the same force, the one with technique will appear to be at far more ease than the one without it, and while it's not the "looking good" that matters, "Form and Function are tied together."

But you know this, as you also have the goal of moving boats.

It seems to be a good way to get someone to analyse your stroke.

Friends:

To all that have provided video, they are a great help to beginners like me (started first week of May '05). Thank you!

I was (still am I guess) a certified Alpine ski instructor. In our training, we learned about all of the different learning styles -- visual, audio, feel, etc. Thus, we could adapt our classes to each and every student by watching them for learning style clues, and adjust our teaching accordingly. This is clearly great information for visual learners.

I tend to be a learner by doing and "feeling" -- can anyone out there give us all a good explanation of how they "feel" when in perfect form at each stage of the stroke. Also, how they "feel" when NOT in proper form?

Thanks a million ... Mark

Below: GIFarama of Thomas Carter - member of Team Oarsome
This is the best quality GIFarama I have and the smoothest stroke of all the GIFarama's I have.

How are GIFarama's made?
Grabbed stills (regular frame intervals) of digital video, resaved as .gif, strung them together in Animation Shop & resized - that's it! Quality of some is quite poor as I only stayed on each rower for 2 seconds or so with camera in hand - if I did it again I'd use a tripod and stay of each erger for 4 secs or more to ensure a smooth GIFarama.

Want to see more GIFarama's?
Click on the famous Team Oarsome logo below.
It will take you to the Team Oarsome website - many of the photos of members on the home page take you to their individual pages - many of these have GIFaramas.

Mark

Mark:
when rowing properly, everything has to feel s m o o t h !
Make a consistent stroke, don't bend your arms too early, and make also a smooth recovery (not rushing with the seat), and a direct but not too hard catch.
The feeling has to be "round".
This was not very technical, but that's how I feel it
Have fun!

It is quite easy (and free) to upload a 10mb file there. After it uploads they give you the url (address of the movie) and you post that here for us to either click on using the http:// option above or simply typing or pasting the address here and we can paste that into our browser.

--Jim
