K2,
2 questions:
as it is almost 01-Jan, will we be having drinks and a party again?
where are we on our journey - how many times have we made it to the moon, and how far are we on our current trip?

Good man, David! You're keeping us on track. I have reached out to see if Guinan will be running Ten-Forward, or Guinan's assistant, or.... should have an answer pretty soon. In the meantime, I will put out a call for drink orders tomorrow AM.

The second question:

We are on our FIFTH journey to the moon. Our last (fourth) lunar landing occurred on 24 March 2019 - and we used the rest of the 2019 time until April 30, 2019 to explore our lunar surface. In general, it is taking us about three years to reach the lunar surface.

Our current journey started on May 1, 2019. The total distance we must accrue is 384,000,000 m per trip to the moon. We earned 144 MM in the 2020 season, and we have earned 115 MM so far in the 2021 season - leaving us 126 MM remaining in our journey. My guess on fifth lunar landing is that it will occur during the Dog Days Challenge during the 2022 erging season. This would be about 6-8 months SOONER than any previous journey.

Virtual New Year's Eve Team Party

Post by Kona2 » December 29th, 2020, 11:22 am

The Lunies have "hosted" our online New Year's Eve party where teammates put in their drink request (not necessarily alcohol based). Our bartender, often Calamity Jane as Guinan of Star Trek Next Generation's famed bar Ten-Forward, and sometimes danwho as Guinan's assistant. Haven't heard back from Jane for this year's presentation, but will give her a little time today.

Meanwhile, start posting your drink requests! It takes time to concoct these and have them ready for the stroke of midnight (because many of you are absolutely wanting to escort this year out of here).

While I normally like to order the classic champagne, this year it's the Pomegranate Martini that I have not been able to enjoy at a favorite restaurant for a REALLY way too long time.

January Virtual Team Challenge.....sign on....sign on....sign on!!!

So far, 37 teammates on the Virtual Team for the January Challenge! Room for many, MANY more!!! Remember...you have to actually sign up for this one on your teams page. When next in your logbook, scroll across to the Teams heading, then scroll down to where it says Join on the January Virtual Team Challenge. No regrets!

January Revolution....so. Always a dilemma as to whether to choose a goal I can make with a little stretch...or whether to go for the BIGGIE goals. There are so many to choose from, too. Do you start big and drop down if you have to change it up...or slog it out because you can always recover in February? Decisions, decisions!

I know Ten-Forward has the ingredients, so I guess I'll have to order the American version of the Rob Roy (Scotch and Drambuie) - the B.A.

It's equal parts Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey (Basil Hayden's, if you have it) and Disaronno Amaretto - in an Old Fashioned glass, on the rocks.

First concocted on a trans-Pacific Northwest Airlines flight when everything else was gone - tasted so good, it became a thing!

I can't wait for 2021 :D

Kahlua and coffee for me, please.

Also, after two and a half decades on a Model B, I recently switched to a bike erg. I've been getting some great workouts using the bike and the Zwift app. I wouldn't mind some company... are there any other Luna-tic Zwifters out there?

Guinan's trying out a new assistant this year. While he's new to Ten Forward and a little rough around the edges, he brings with him a wide background in mixology. So keep those drink orders flowing (either post or private message) as we prepare to toast in the New Year, and say Goodbye to 2020!!!

Wow, that double Mudslide sounds good! But I'll stick with my traditional KGB coffee (Kahlua, Grand Marnier, and Baileys). Many thanks!!

Zwift and the Bike Erg....hmmm. I think this will require a little research, but I believe it is possible to download the Zwift app to apple tv which is hooked into a tv in front of the ergs....the bluetooth on apple tv is different than the ergs, though...however you've set up the bike erg and Zwift, Chip ....it sure seems to be working for you!!

Before you call "time" for our drink orders, may I submit our favorites, please? For moi, Champagne all the way ... it rights all the world's wrongs, and, I opine, wards off viruses, too. AJ's drink of preference is hot sake ... puts him to sleep in a heartbeat, so don't heat up his jug/decanter, too early, or he won't be awake to see in the new year! Thanks danwho.

I'll put out a hearty virtual charcuterie board on the counter in Ten Forward (or, is this new venue Quark's Bar and Gaming House?) and a platter of cookies that my grandies helped decorate, yesterday. (They're a wee bit heavy on the sprinkles, but certainly look festive, in a sun-going-nova kind of way.) Anyone got a good chicken wings recipe to bring and share?!
