Rower moving during use
Rower moving during use
Hi
I recently bought a D2 Rower and Concept2 Floor Matt, which I have on a Lino (Vinyl) Floor in a garage, but during use the whole thing moves gradually and after a 15 minute row the rower as moved 12 inches back on the matt.
Any ideas to prevent and stop this please?
Thanks
Andrew

Re: Rower moving during use
If the rower isn't on a very shiny surface then it's a technique problem, stop slamming forwards at front-stops.
If it's on a shiny surface wrap two turns of gaffer tape round the front feet, turn through 180 and wrap another two turns sticky side out. That will hold it down to a shiny surface.
You may want the inside out gaffer tape between the mat and the lino.

Re: Rower moving during use
My rower eventually started moving and I've got a C2 mat too. As suggested, gaffer tape will do it, but I had some spare cut up yoga mat (I used the rest for a seat cushion) so I use that. I've also heard of people using a couple of bags of gravel at the front of the erg

If the erg is moving backwards you might try rowing strapless for a bit. If you aren't able to do that because you need the straps to keep you from flying off the back end, then it's a technique issue which you should work on fixing.

I’ve tried going strapless a few times. My boobs kept flopping out. Is that a technique thing too?
Re: Rower moving during use
I've got the "stop slamming forwards at front-stops" technique problem that Citroen refs. Is there a drill for that too ? Or any guidance how to avoid slamming forward in very fast pieces. (I really really do not want to do that in a boat, so I'd like to stop the bad technique on the erg).
I like the row strapless drill. Thought that was for erg moving backwards. Does it help the front stops problem too ?

Just put a dumbbell/kettlebell/weight plate at either end of the rower.
Switch to slides and you become much smoother.Tsnor wrote: ↑December 30th, 2020, 6:49 pmI've got the "stop slamming forwards at front-stops" technique problem that Citroen refs. Re: Rower moving during use
Slides are the solution, but a few bricks between me and the nearest wall, or even lumber, years ago was enough to stop me floating off into the sunset. Since then I don't pull so hard and the machine hardly notices: not more than rate 20 and 130W with a long stroke at low drag (85), and who needs more if the only design is to stay alive and reasonably fit?
A moving machine is only doing what it has to do under the inertial forces we apply. A little physics can help understand how it works.

That's a lot more physics that I need right now, such as working out how to get off the sofa or put socks on..
