Thanks! Next is to take a few days to relax. Then, I will just get back to focusing on the training itself. I've been overly focused on a few goals over the past several weeks; I'm much happier when I am focused on the training process without specific goals in mind. Goals will come :)

Was not thinking right tomorrow, but you really are row gifted, for pure ergers sub 6 is pretty rare and you pulled that off “easy”. Its indeed about the training, you will feel when you are ready again for time trials.

Ps its certainly time to start looking at racing...

At the risk of stealing some of Ian's thunder, I managed to PB my 60 mins by 130m, and Henry & Nick were right, it is two seconds difference from a 10k PB :D

With hindsight, I was a bit too cautious and worried about blowing up a few too many times, mainly as a consequence of my annoying habit of wanting (needing) to neg split. I didn't have the 50 minute wobble so I clearly wasn't going fast enough.

Managed to get 403,154m for the Holiday Challenge too. Apart from ultra distance training, this is massively unprecedented monthly metres.
Congratulations on the PB - with a big jump in meters!
Congratulations also on breaking 400 k for the Holiday Challenge.

That is an outstanding result Cam. It's the mental strength which I think is the toughest. All the way through that, you'll have been fighting the desire to drop the handle. Top notch B)

Jon . . .my partner was filming me. Honestly, if she wasn't, I'm not sure if I would have been able to hold on. After the first 500m the voice of "just get to 1200 or 1500 and call it a 'prep session'" was screaming!

Yeah, I've signed up for Row'd Royalty this year. But, my intention is to mostly use 2021 to build my fitness then see what i can do in 2022!

@btlifter - just watched the video with commentary. A few observations.

1. Your comment that 850m to go might as well be 9 miles - accurate!
2. Always fun to see these kinds of world class aerobic feats carried out in garages and sheds and the like - sort of feels like it fits in with the 'glamour' of rowing.
3. You look so smooth and relaxed but I'm guessing that is not what you were feeling!
4. At the end I thought you would drop dead but you look remarkably fresh.

Right, now I need to get my act together and get my 2k PB down an stop eating so much junk.

Thanks Alasdair - your observations are much kinder than mine!

And yeah, looks can be quite deceiving! I spent quite a bit of time hunched over a toilet after this, feeling guilty about the sounds my neighbours were hearing from me. I was battling a bit of a cold though, so I'm unsure how much that factored into it. The cold actually may have contributed to me looking a little smoother though. I unintentionally lowered my stroke rate a little bit to work around some minor breathing difficulties, which may have actually been beneficial.

I agree and love how 'glamorous' indoor rowing is!

Great stuff :) can you tell a bit about what you did to obtain the sub6? Mileage, key workouts, strength training etc? How fast did you progress when closing in to the sub6?

Solid work. Congratulations. When you figure out the nuances of pacing, you'll be that much more impressive. If you had done the first 500m at "only" 1:30, you'd have finished 3-4 seconds faster.

Thanks Mike, that means a lot! The frustrating thing is that I knew it, too. I kept "trying" to let my pace slow over the first few hundred meters, but I guess that my adrenaline didn't let that happen. A good problem to have I suppose, but a problem nonetheless. Oh-well, always good to have something I know I can improve on.
