[FONT=Arial]
Hello all!
My name is Brian. I have found out that my town is starting up a Junior Rowing Club. I have no past expirence with rowing. Although I have rowed on an ERG. I have rowed on one for cardio/warm ups. Once I researched this, I basically fell in love with it. It looks like the coolest sport and something that I would truely enjoy! I was hoping that some of you could help me by telling me alittle bit about this sport and what it is all about. Thank you very much! -Brian-

Your going to have to get training advice from some of the others here. I'm still learning. I do know enough to tell you that when I rowed (some time ago) I loved it, and I am having a great time on the Concept II.

Best o' luck.

Best two things I have done for a long while.

The erg is great for fitness conditioning and training but NOTHING beats being out in a boat. The technique required to make the boat move well is a h*** of a challenge and takes time but if you view it as a skill to learn, take teh time and do not get too frustrated then you will have many hours of enjoyment to come.

I was out in an eight last week and for the first time we actually got the rhythm together and it was such a good feeling.

Having said this the single scull is just awesome (but tricky to master!).

Enjoy yourself.

Neil

Erging is great, on water rowing is even greater!
Youll find some usefull experiences in several threads of this forum, e.g.:
first time on water
take it smooth, and have fun!

Brian

Erging can be extremely addictive - soon you might just be boring your friends about the delights of strapless rowing....

While your motivation is running high, I would suggest you research ALL of the US and UK Concept2 web sites. Loads of info about fitness, training, weightloss etc.

Another key aspect is racing......you can find out about races near you, national competitions etc as well as online racing (via RowPro).

Remember and post your progress.
Best of luck.
RichardT
