danwho's reindeer, Tall Tale, gets his name from the Christmas Ale brewed by a UK brewing company called Wickwar - which is danwho's last name. I'm betting there's an ancestry linkage there (perhaps an investigation for a year where travel for Dan is more possible)!! The folks who brew and name the brews have got a good sense of fun there at Wickwar! Four of their products have names like Bob (the storyteller brew), Falling Star (the astronomer brew), Cotswold Way (the traveler), and Station Porter (the apparation...enough ABV in that one to make you think you've seen a ghost or two after a couple pints?). Like certain US brewers, Wickwar credits a lot of its distinctness and success with the magic of the water...but we know it takes a lot of things to make a brew special!

Took me a couple of minutes to find the posting back from 2014, where Xander was first introduced by a teammate we called The Stig...

Dear team Lunies,

Finally time to introduce my son Xander with a nice picture of his first Christmas celebration. Mama and Xander are doing great. He's a nice calm little boy of just 4 weeks old. So be prepared for a new Lunie that will hit the competition in three to four years.

Holiday Challenge participants now top 22 K, and 1.8 billion meters have been erged. The Lunies have contributed 8.4 MM of those meters and have earned $126.60 of the total $11,700 in virtual charity exchange dollars. Good stuff! Keep going! Almost ONE million meters contributed just today!

Snow Bike at Lake George AK...the confluence of Colony and Knik Glaciers...studded snow tires


Lake George in warmer weather...

Sharing two photos from a fellow cyclist, Dan C, who lives in Anchorage. He borrowed a friend's snow bike to ride across what becomes a bucket list singletrack ride across Lake George, AK. He notes that on a warmer day in March, he did this ride. The singletrack became quite mushy with warmer temperatures. Talk about a snow slog. I thought the photos were stunning...and Dave H's reindeer, Knik, is named for the Knik glacier.

Goodness, I can't begin to imagine the conditions encountered in a ride across a frozen lake on a studded fat tire-d bike, in Alaska! That's achingly beautiful, but ... bucket list? I gotta say, no. I'll stay on my bike in my tv room, watching movies!

Do any of you bike ergers have a comfy bike seat that you've purchased, and could recommend? I find that around 14,000 meters, I start losing feeling in my nether regions ... even with a padded seat, and padded bike shorts. It's certainly not from a lack of personal padding, either. (I remember that bike seats were discussed, when we first started getting bikeErgs. Apologies for not bookmarking.)
