Does any one have experience with numbness in fingers and hands from sculling? This is a new problem this season. I try not to grip the handles tightly, or flex wrists so I don't know where this is coming from. All I know is that I have to stop every 1000 meters to shake my hands out to get the feeling back. Thanks for any help!

Could it be that your muscles around your shoulders are unusually tight?
Check with a doctor. They have a simple test to determine at which location in your arm your problem is. Hopefully it is nothing serious.

I occasionally experience a numbness in the hands while on the erg. It varies, sometimes left, sometimes right, sometimes both and seems to start after approximately 15 minutes of continuous rowing. It feels very much like when an arm, leg, or foot "falls asleep" and have always attributed it to restricted blood flow to the appendage. I try to loosen the hand grip during the recovery and this seems to help. The condition recovers almost immediately when I stop rowig.

john
