There's a massive fillip for camaraderie and friendly rivalry. We all celebrate each others' success, and feel the failures too.

Very strong - I see lots more PBs coming based on this row and your current PBs.Big J wrote: ↑December 4th, 2020, 6:24 pm49 seconds off my 5k - 17.17.7

Might be a bit more in there (due to having a sprint in me at the end) but I'm happy to leave that PB for a while. It was unpleasant and sweaty, even though the gym was only 4c.

In other news, first ever half marathon completed so defacto pb! 1 hour 29 minutes 49.3 seconds. Had decent energy levels so tried to speed up for the last few k but foot cramped up and limped across the finish line unfortunately. Pleased though, was hoping to do it under under an hour and a half!
Going under 90 min for the HM is great.

Thanks for all the encouragement and well done to everyone else. It's great to see new pbs being posted every day.
Managed 1:22.5 on the 500m today. Also my first experience of total burnout in a row. I lost a full second in the final 130m as my 500 split dropped 5 seconds. I was honestly going as hard as I could but the clock was just getting slower and slower!!

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Looks like a very well paced 500 to me as a believer in "if you don't die in the last 100 you didn't do the first 300 fast enough". I experimented with different strategies on the 500 for a while Flat/Neg/Positive, and for me: 5 max power to start; settle to target -1.5 to 300; drift up to target by 400; hang on as best I can (but die - typically target +5 or more by the end). It wouldn't win as a race strategy, but it gets me my best times. I found if I went slow enough even to be able to maintain pace to the end (let alone neg) I could never make up in what is still a lactic bath at the end what I'd lost by not taking advantage of the adrenalin fueled confident stage at the beginning.Big J wrote: ↑December 7th, 2020, 5:37 pmThanks for all the encouragement and well done to everyone else. Your first 100 can even be a bit faster, and rating for the last 100 is low, when your tank is empty you can shorten the stroke which should result in high rating and faster pace.
You'll soon hit 1:20 for sure, your improvements are incredible
