Thanks! I'll be helping her train for the World Champs. More to come from her hopefully as she hasn't done a great deal of focused training on the rower.

Excellent race. Hit it hard and toughed it out to the end. Held sub 1:30 for 30 secs - good power.

That is seriously impressive - must be the excellent coaching
Congrats to your other half.

I see Phil Clapp did the business again in the Men's Open 500m with Chris Scott 3rd.

I don't know if you noticed but without the racing start (which added 2.0 seconds for Phil) the row would have been 1:09.8 just insane.

Also weird that the guy that win the Scottish with 6:48 could only do 7:30 today 🤔.... so no idea what happened to him. Also Tim Male, ex Olympian, didn't race either and some Spanish dude who pushed 6:16 failed to weigh in on time.
That is very strange now you mention it.

It was the end of Phil’s first stroke that was reported at 2.0s (and mine at a lethargic 2.2s!), so you wouldn’t gain that full 2 seconds in a standalone TT but probably closer to one second. Still, these 500m events can definitely be won or lost on the start!

You were very close to your PB even with the race start.
I trust the erg clutch behaved itself with the huge watts you were pulling - must have been a slight worry though in the back of your mind.

Thank you very much. I’m very thankful my machine is okay - I think it was definitely related to the high rate on slides! Luckily I only rate around 40 for a static 500m. I dismantled the machine as far as I felt competent to do so and then did a minute test on Monday to gain some confidence as I couldn’t afford to worry about it on race day!

Anyone else got an email like this?

'Recycle your score to qualify for the 2021 World Rowing Indoor Championships Final'

Just wondering if it's pukka as it's asking for ID confirmation. 🤔
