The Merrell Bare Access shoes I've been using since early 2018 no longer keep my heel in the shoe when erging, so every time I get to the catch my shoe rubs on my heel. I looked high and low for those shoes again, but finding them in size 14 proved too much. I bought a pair of Merrell Vapor Glove 3 shoes as a replacement - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078NL7KWF/ . I've only done ~10k in them, but they're pretty comfortable. 0 heel/toe drop, basically no padding in the sole to speak of, and no plastic stiffener in the heel cup.

Whooooosh! That's the sound of you and your erg(s) flying through ANOTHER month!!
Day 6 of 29!!!
The number of Holiday Challenge participants in the Concept2 Universe is now 19,303...subject to change about every minute! So far, 712 MM meters has been earned...in five/six days. Amazing! Lunies have erged 3.4 MM Holiday Challenge meters so far!
And there's that clatter up on the rooftop again...we have a third reindeer claimed as Ron M earns his reindeer AND the $2 charity contribution for Concept2. Lots of teammates in the queue for earning their contributions and reindeer, reindeer accessories! Gary, Robin and Johan are close to the 100K milestone!
.......Comet (Ron M).......
Sometimes a teammate's accomplishments can kind of fly under the radar - and while I try to catch those that I see, I'm sure I miss some. Jamie B, aka Brickman, completed a rowing half marathon yesterday. Dark Horse Rowing coaching or not, this was a big effort and a worthy accomplishment. Betting that there was some gritting it out (there always always is !) to get this one done. It has been some time since his previous half marathon I think! Good work, Brickman!

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Yesterday I did the Thor 37,835 m ... mooner!
I still can't stay on the bike for very long no matter what I try. I have tried at least two seats and seat pads etc. So, my poor little active brain cell kicked in. I began on the rower for 4K and hopped on the bike for 8K and kept going back and forth.
Some workers are coming tomorrow to do some long standing renos. I likely won't be metering the next few days. Dry wall dust, yikes.
Today I changed it to around 3K rower and 6K on the bike but I couldn't keep going. Yesterday burned me out. Was it really all that long ago when I could put out some decent numbers? In short, yes! haha. My goal is still to hit 300K for the HC.
Little Thor is settling in rather well. So tiny, not quite 5 pounds. Janice will fatten him up. Trust me, I know ... Night 3 last night and everyone rested for a change. He has begun to eat more too. I think he's home now.
Keep on Rock'n and Roll'n.

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Thanks for the "shout-out" it is like family checking in here. Long rows can be boring which is why I'm enjoying rowing to the You tubes. I rowed my 1/2 marathon with a team which has some long rows on line. They kept up astroke rate of 20-24 which I could easily match. I had to restart at the end of the video as there was no way I matching their splits! There is good music in the background which really helps. Between the Youtubes and the ergdata app, I know I'll be using the erg much more at home than I ever did at the "Y".

It's good...but it's bad
At least, that's how my 90 yr old mom described it. Mom's had the newspaper delivered for greater than 50 years, and when it became difficult for her to walk down the somewhat steep gravel driveway to go pick up the paper each day, a call to the paper's delivery people yielded a kind solution. The delivery gal now swings through the circular drive, leaves the paper at the end of the bricked walkway, and out Mom treks with her cane in one hand and the grabber in the other.
This time of year, your newspaper carrier (if you even get the print edition any more!) will often enclose an envelope and card in the hopes that you will reward their oh dark thirty daily drives to deliver your sometimes unread papers. Mom's had the same carrier for a few years, and likes to give her a little tip. Last year's card and envelope also had a poem enclosed - presumably written by the carrier. All those drives in darkness give a person a lot of time to think I bet.
This year, another poem...and an illustration! That's when Mom said "it's good, but it's bad." Wonderful thought, but not the best poetry. Still, it reminded me of all the small kindnesses that people who perform delivery jobs do for us. People that we don't even "see"...sometimes even when they are in front of us.
So I'm sharing the carrier's (Lorri Cross-Kendle) poem...because it's reindeer season...and I'm sure the meter is reading in the good section of the chart! I'll be sending this carrier a thank you note for making a big difference.

Day 8 of 29...hooyah!...
Wowzer! 1.1 BILLION meters have been completed by the Concept2 Universe of 20,792 participants (at this time), and the Lunies have completed FIVE million. Almost $2900 in charity exchange has been put forth for that 1 billion meters ... and you know that things will zip along well with the number of people hitting that first 100K milestone and doubling their earning power! Keep going! It's just effort on our part!
Let the fog roll in..we have some antler lights to help guide our sleigh! Congratulations, Ed, on claiming the sparkly lights with attainment of 200K Holiday Challenge meters. Impressive!
