Big congratulations Max, strong strong effort😊👌and after a HD!

Thanks JA,
I'm looking forward to seeing your new 60' PB. Your training shows you're in pretty good form and fitness atm.

The holiday challenge calendar called up a 500m TT today:

2k warm up: 8:16.7

500m TT failed just shy of 300m.
18.4 100 1:32.0 42
18.0 200 1:30.0 43
18.8 300 1:34.0 38
HD

Well I know it's a heavily anaerobic event, but I think I may have been holding my breath. Not an ideal plan obviously.

No way could I manage the last 200m, but hey, I'd gone okay for a minute. Hmm, a minute eh? Perhaps I could fill another unforgiving minute with sixty seconds worth of distance erged?

Another 2k stay-warm/recovery: 8.35.3

1min PB
1:00.0 329 1:31.1 48

Destroyed my previous PB by a gargantuan 1m, but they all count.

2k cool down: 8:43.9
Well done for going again after quitting the 500m and managing to PB for 1minute! I've been doing the holiday challenge as per their calendar too. I managed to PB my 500m by 0.1s (1:30.6) i was actually disappointed though. After 300 meters i was at 1:28 pace and it felt controlled, i was sure i was going to get sub 1:30....then i started to die at about 380m and just about hung on for the PB

5k PB today. Did a better job of keeping the rate high than I have been lately. Really struggled to stay consistent on the splits through the middle, saw a lot more 1:39s than I would have liked, but I made up for it with a strong last 1000m.

That’s an insane time! Great job! Love the rating on that last 1k you definitely gave it all up...

Thanks Dave,

I think that a controlled fly and die is usually regarded as the best approach to a 500m. Your legs should be basically gone by the end, and if not, you've not gone quickly enough. It sounds like you got it just about right.

I gave it absolutely everything. Totally exhausting. My guts again felt like they wanted to escape at about 700m, but a false alarm, mercifully.

I think that's my fourth attempt at a 1k pb in about 2-3 months of rowing. That is presently as much as I have though - all natural potential is now exhausted and I'm going to have to train! This morning I did notice that my resting heart rate is down close to 50, which is almost 10bpm down on 3 months ago. Remarkable what a difference a bit of erging makes.
Very good result. As Max says this is probably your maximum atm, but with some more training sub three is definitely possible

HM PB - 1:20:56.8 (-61'') :D

First PB in my new training room, goal was sub 1:21 and it went almost perfectly as planned. Started at 15°C and 35% humidity, but forgot to start the fan and ended at 18°C and 80% humidity which cost me some seconds for sure.
Very happy with the result, and good to know there's still a bit more possible.

Nice HM PB- that’s epic.

I managed to crush my 10k PB by 24.3” today. New PB is:

38.04.7 at 1.54.2 and r27.

To be honest I’ve been working so hard I was a little disappointed not to crack 38’ or even threaten it (I only got within 5 seconds by killing myself in the last 250). Clearly need more cardio to beat 38’ as I had nothing left in the tank. Still, a PB is a PB!

Very good Martin, that's a very impressive chunk to knock off. That last 1097m shows you're faster than this too.

35% humidity?? It's never been less than 60% for me, and all too often ends up at 80+.

Well done Rob, also another impressive chunk to knock off your PB. Don't underestimate the confidence boost this will give you for next time, and hopefully you'll go sub 38 then.

Haha, yeah sorry, the importance of an adjective. I meant to type 'soon' as well. That would have notably changed the message to what I intended.

That's definitely all I have in there at the moment. I've switched my training so that I'm rowing every other day, with weights in between. Cut out some of the heavier pulling work to focus the weights on the rowing side of things. Give me a few months and time to build up my fitness. I'd like to be at 1:20/500, 2:55/1000 and 6:20/2000 by early spring I guess.
