I saw Dino already answered, like he said sprint rowing is very different from normal rowing, higher rating and shorter strokes, his technique is great for 500mlifebeginsafterdeath wrote: ↑November 20th, 2020, 8:07 amhis shins don't go vertical as suggested...correct? is his form correct then?MartinSH4321 wrote: ↑November 19th, 2020, 4:24 pmhttps://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FjY3eKNvzugCitroen wrote: ↑November 19th, 2020, 4:10 pm
What does that mean?
Have you checked the PM5 is calibrated for the MODEL D/E?
I think we need a video on YT that shows you pulling up the product ID pages then rowing your 500m.
Even MAD's Rob Smith only did 1:15 pace for 300m and he had green skin and a ripped shirt when he walked out to the ergo at the short course competition in 2007.
Rob Smith did 1:14.4 500m in 2008

Re: 500m first time row
And by extrapolation, Tom’s form is suspect precisely because he wastes time (and sacrifices rate) going to orthodox, shins-vertical catch rather than to back and shoulders-dominant 3/4 or half stroke sprinter catch. In any case verification and public performance are the customary credentials for being taken seriously. The untutored prodigy deserves a chance to master that aspect of the game.MartinSH4321 wrote: ↑November 20th, 2020, 4:20 pmI saw Dino already answered, like he said sprint rowing is very different from normal rowing, higher rating and shorter strokes, his technique is great for 500mlifebeginsafterdeath wrote: ↑November 20th, 2020, 8:07 amhis shins don't go vertical as suggested...correct? is his form correct then?MartinSH4321 wrote: ↑November 19th, 2020, 4:24 pm

That's an amazing time for anyone let alone a new person. Martin is our best sprinter on here and he hasn't accomplished that yet but he may be able to help you with speed work/training if that's what you are going to focus on.scarfacem16 wrote: ↑November 19th, 2020, 1:37 pmHi everyone, hope you are all okay
I tried rowing 500m for the first time today on a concept 2 machine. Other than using one to warm up in the gym for a few minutes every once in a blue moon, I’ve never used one for a work out.
My time was 1:20.2. I was wondering if that’s a good starting time as my friend who owns the machine has said it’s good. It was fun and I’d like to do more. Thanks. Tom

Really impressive first effort. Looking forward to seeing how you progress!scarfacem16 wrote: ↑November 20th, 2020, 5:49 amThanks everyone for the kind comments. I will go back and do some training to try improve and follow the advice people have suggested on here. I’ll set up a log aswell to help record things better.
I’ll shoot a video from the side so people can see where I’m going wrong on my technique. Also where is the best place to post on the forum if I’m just posting a new updated 500m time?
Thanks again, Tom
