D model PM5 update
Any hints on accomplishing the 169 update? I've tried both the USB cable and a thumb drive several times today with no success. I did an online chat during my attempts but got nothing that helped. I am using a Macbook Pro.

If you've not yet installed V7.10.01 you need to download the latest C2 Utility from https://www.concept2.com/service/softwa ... t2-utility
If it still doesn't work then write an email to info@concept2.com with details of your OSX version. The version of the C2 Utility. The hardware version of your PM5 and current firmware version. Plus anything else they may need to re-create the error.

I also received the PM5 update email. As I only use the PM5 for elapsed time, rpm, and distance, do I need to update?

Re: D model PM5 update
I asked that same question during a chat. I was told that version 168 is stable enough to allow me to continue to row and upload it to my ERG app.
I'm OCD about keeping stuff up to date so I continued to try today. I was told by chat that I really needed to be attempting the update by USB A to B cable (printer cable). Once I did that the update went through. I do wish Concept2 would address the update instructions. I encountered several things that aren't addressed in the update process.

Interesting. Just updated a brand new PM5 yesterday using the Concept2 Utility 7.10.01 (Windows version) run on a MacBook Air booted to Windows 10 (Bootcamp) and a standard/cheap USB device/printer cable and it updated perfectly.

The best use for a MacBook is a door stop.
Never had a single issue updating a PM monitor even on really old Windows laptops and I have literally updated hundreds of them, many of them twice to get to V101 and then to V108 with the old PM3's.

Re: D model PM5 update
Received a new C2 today, It was boxed on 10/22/20 but the PM5 had version 168 installed. I download the utility and it transferred the 169 update to a USB flash drive. I inserted the drive into the PM5 and powered it on. It went into update mode, answered few questions and the update took off. The estimated time to update was 12 minutes, it took more like half of that. So everything went smoothly. I have no idea what issues or features were fixed/updated, but I'm happy.

I would have assumed that this was more or less the only B cable available.George Bailey wrote: ↑October 8th, 2020, 4:29 pmI was told by chat that I really needed to be attempting the update by USB A to B cable (printer cable).
Which type of cable did you use, which was not an A to B?

The instructions are OK. Use a USB2.0 memory stick or use a USB-A to USB-B printer cable likeGeorge Bailey wrote: ↑October 8th, 2020, 4:29 pmI'm OCD about keeping stuff up to date so I continued to try today. Re: D model PM5 update
Trying to update mine today. First time I’ve connected a laptop to my PM5. Downloaded the utility today, so it must be the latest version. It’s been connected and saying it’s updating for 3.5 hours now. That doesn’t seem right?
Going to leave it running overnight but do the more knowledgable out there think 3.5 hours and counting means there is something wrong?
Thanks.

Re: D model PM5 update
Pull the USB, reboot your laptop then try again.
Re: D model PM5 update
Thanks Citroen, was nervous about pulling the plug and causing damage but the popular helpdesk ‘turn it off and turn it on again’ worked.
