I have finally entered too. It's good fun, not as good as a proper face to face competition, but it's worth doing

Re: Scottish Indoor Champs - 21st November
I’m in first ever event. No problems with connection etc. Only question is do you get a countdown to the start? I assume you do. Not had any further details yet.

Re: Scottish Indoor Champs - 21st November
No countdown, but you get instructions to 'Sit Ready' and then 'Row'. You will lose a bit of time in reacting to the instruction, so don't freak out if you get a really slow average pace to start with. I had something like a 4:06 pace at the last 2k competition: it quickly comes down.

Presumably you can't use Ergzone to help pace things .... I'm so used to it now that I may need some practice sessions without it.Dangerscouse wrote: ↑November 13th, 2020, 2:27 amNo countdown, but you get instructions to 'Sit Ready' and then 'Row'. Re: Scottish Indoor Champs - 21st November
Thank you. I just had no idea how I would know when to start I can run ERgdata at the same time to help pacing on my phone. I’ll have the power curve up to.

I'm not sure mate, but probably not as it's not programmed in by you.winniewinser wrote: ↑November 13th, 2020, 4:34 amPresumably you can't use Ergzone to help pace things .... I'm so used to it now that I may need some practice sessions without it.

That's what I thought. I'll do some test starts too as I've never done that before.....I think you can program the PM5 to replicate that.Dangerscouse wrote: ↑November 13th, 2020, 6:12 amI'm not sure mate, but probably not as it's not programmed in by you.winniewinser wrote: ↑November 13th, 2020, 4:34 amPresumably you can't use Ergzone to help pace things .... Any idea if I need to download/install software on a laptop for this?

I assume you will have to, and they'll send something out soon.winniewinser wrote: ↑November 13th, 2020, 11:43 amAny idea if I need to download/install software on a laptop for this?
You need to get a USB cable as well. I think it's an A to A cable, and get it as long as possible, as it needs to plug into a laptop and the monitor.
I don't think anything will properly prepare you for a race start, not least due to the adrenaline

There’s a test on the site. All you needed is web browser and A to B cable. It’s a printer cable USB one end printer / PM5 connection other.

Yeah exactly this.Dangerscouse wrote: ↑November 13th, 2020, 2:27 amNo countdown, but you get instructions to 'Sit Ready' and then 'Row'. When I did the Australian Virtual, it was also the same. I was absolutely bricking it because I was doing it at 4 am (London) and I didn't hear anything on my laptop, I wasn't sure if there was supposed to be a buzzer or anything, but the screen changed and I just went for it. I also didn't get any small boats on my laptop scree, wonder if that's normal? Or maybe my internet was poor. My result did record in the end tho!
