Well managed 168965m for the fall challange. Quite happy with that for my first challenge. Managed to complete my first half marathon as part of it too! Hopefully I'll manage the 200000m next time!
Great effort, Neil. Will be a good warm up for the Nov/Dec individual Holiday Challenge (200k).
Beware the desire to try increasingly longer distances, like the marathon and 100k
.
Dave
Thanks!
The thought of the full marathon and the 200k is making me sweat already!

Nosey Parker here. Neil has his “well managed” 4 days on, 1 rest training log on view which suggests to me that his goal is proper training rather than Challenge binge rowing. 40+k per week is a sweet spot for fast improvement on all fronts.

Good detective work jackarabit!
I'm hoping to keep up this volume of work for the rest of the season. Managed almost six months so far. (I started with a lesser rower back in May, before I got hold of Concept).

Good on you, Chris. Man with a plan! Break the tape knowing you prepped the best to do your best on the day—no regrets.

Jack, that is the plan but it is going to take some work.
It is mostly in the head, when i did 7.03, that 3 seconds felt a long time
Got to say though that the 5k and 30 mins are my favourites, would love to go sub 18.30 and +8k respectvely, we'll see what a winter of hard training gains.
Awesome Fall Team rowing by the way

Good day guys! I am reading through the Forum to get to know the Forum Flyers-community. Also reading the New Member guide. I read about the CTC (Cross Team Challenge). I put my name there and so far it's fine. When I join the challenge of this month (30 min) and I enter the meters there, it will automatically be registrered to the Forum Flyer team? I read about filling the boat according to specific rules etc., but is that something I should do something with?
Regards, Johan

Johan: Welcome to the Flyers. I am a newbie Flyer too (just joined in September). When you first register your name for the CTC (under the Add or Update name tab), you should select Forum Flyers as a Team. After that, it remembers that you belong to Forum Flyers.
I am quite enjoying the CTC aspect. I find myself checking the board at least twice a week to see how many boats we have floating and where we are standing!

Once you are on the system, all you have to do is put in your result. And you can if you do it again and better it, simple overwright that lesser result. And do this as often as you like.
Boatplacings are done within the system. First 3 heavyweight man boat 1, next 3 2, etc.
Every boat also needs 1 female and 1 lightweight man to be full.

Above is the typical and usual
de facto allotment of seats in each boat given adequate pool of entries from each gender and weight class. The rules mandate ONLY that crew composition include one lightweight and one female. An all female crew with at least one lightweight is possible within the rules. I believe there has recently been at least one “floated” [scoring an ordinal placement and team points] boat composed of four lwt men and one women. The game does not automatically grant precedence or pride of place to hwt men, lwt men, or hwt women. They have to sing for their supper as do we all. The loudest song, longest sustained, is not the only song in the hymnbook.
A thought-provoking discussion of the rules, team goals and, even a bit of strategy:

True Jack, but no 5 fem. Boat ever will be high in ranks. So yes its possible, and maybe with more people entering it could give an extra ranking, females only. But within the system, a 3 man heavy boat will always be in top. Even if the best 5 female rowers in the world would team up. They would certainly not be on top.

Also very true. The game certainly acknowledges the aggregate, biological pecking order. There are a very few consolation prizes available. High total boats launched is a secondary focus of interest and possible team goal. Give me 400 school kids (Banana Boat) conscripted to enter on a regular basis and I’ll give you 80 boatloads of low horsepower floaters every month.
For individuals, seat racing (seeing where one comes within one’s own team) also encourages participation. Some of us (me) focus on upward (and downward) mobility in the all-time, top 100 participation list. A very small carrot but better than the stick for motivation.

Dave, Lindsay and Jack- You do a really great job of recruiting new members. The team continues to get bigger, better and more active thanks to your efforts...and as result even more fun. Thank you for your efforts.
