Re: Forum Flyers
Well managed 168965m for the fall challange. Quite happy with that for my first challenge. Managed to complete my first half marathon as part of it too! Hopefully I'll manage the 200000m next time!

Welcome Neil and Welcome Christine!! May all your flyer challenges be happy ones.
Managed 200k for the Fall, pleased with that and not sure i've managed that before.
Someone rowed 3.75million, that is bonkers. what's that 125k a day??? If that was me it would go on my gravestone so future generations know how bonkers that was.
Great show from the flyers and great to have seen so many new name come on board. To all of those, stay with it, long term the rower is on of the greatest pieces of exercise kit. Just make sure you have a balance of those ticking over sessions with some go high intensity stuff. That way you get stronger.

In all honesty, I do not think anyone did 3,75 million I call him bluff, like a lot of other people around. If anyone were to do 8,5-9 hours per day(like he says in interviews), they would probably not have time to eat enough calories to stay in a caloric surplus, which he obviously is at 205 kg.meerkats wrote: ↑October 16th, 2020, 3:40 amWelcome Neil and Welcome Christine!! The fact that he does not want to show his monitor just strengthens this suspicion.

Re: Forum Flyers
Hi there!
After checking out the forums I just joined the Forum Flyers Teams and also set my affiliation to Forum Flyers.
I have been rowing on the erg on and off but the last 2 years i've found a team and started logging the meters. Over the last 3 years i logged 8M and intend to keep a regime of 60 - 90 km a week (apart from holidays). As my other team members stopped logging meters i went out to search for a more active team that keeps me more motivated and now i'm here.
Hope that's Ok and looking forward to put in the km's for the different concept2 rowing challenges.
Cheers, Hans

Re: Forum Flyers
It baffles me why someone would feel the need to make up something like that. Maybe when they see the figures up on the board, they actually believe they did it!

There are political leaders who make up stuff on a daily bases, and still get elected, so why not?
Could also very well be someone who just likes to mess things up.

Re: Forum Flyers
The high indy meter total for the 2020 FTC belongs to Mr. Don Altrichter. As per the adaptive rower categories below, Don is a single amputee possibly following on injury received in military service. This info can be easily got from a glance at his C2 member profile and interpreted in light of Concept 2 meter challenge “compensation” schedule also shown below. The 1.4 multiplication factor means that nearly one third of Mr. Altrichter’s meter total is recognition of the heart, desire, and steely will of an athlete. It’s a dog’s life folks! Ask not for whom the ball is thrown.

Re: Forum Flyers
Jack, re compensation, people with such handicapts do go slower, so the amount of time would be the same. And it could be the case he really does those meters.
Years ago, we had a team member who took his erg to places to collect money for good causes. He often erged a few marathons a day. The paces he used where very easy, but that still adds up.
Its a bit like cycling or walking, that you can do all day long if you really wanted to. Same for erging. Try it out, take your normal pace and add 30 seconds, it becomes very easy. That way you could make enormous meters. Even if you take rest inbetween.
The point, yes some people cheat but also yes some people really sit hours a day, every day on that rower.

Fair dinkum, Henry. Bit dismissive of endurance as a measure of fitness but hey, I in my supreme weakness, am perfectly capable of dissing the 1:09/100m as an involuntary muscle spasm.
Horses for courses; ponies for carts. For those who don’t quite grasp the fundamental value of the long haul, I recommend doing box jumps with Kim Stanley Robinson’s novel, Shaman, open to the bit about dogtrotting across a frozen subcontinent with short ribs and backbone bumping.
And the points is to look beyond the end of one’s nose, eschew fat shaming, and evidence a little understanding of the other guy’s dooackadoo.

CORRECTION a 1:09 100m sounds like what I could do. Obviously should have given elapsed rather than pace/500. So mebbe ~14”? Takes a lot of dedication to get that faaaassst!

Re: Forum Flyers
FWIW I'm inclined to believe the long meter people - there have been others in the past as well - most famously a lady named Darlene Brennan who has been interviewed by C2 and had others substantiate her exploits. She logged >2million an a number of occasions. I think did 100K a day for a month. She managed "only" 1.3m this time for the AncientsTandstad wrote: ↑October 16th, 2020, 4:22 amIn all honesty, I do not think anyone did 3,75 million I call him bluff, like a lot of other people around. It is the domain of seniors with lots of time on their hands. Breaks it into 3 or 4 sessions around 2:40 pace I believe.
Why would they make it up?
I just wish they would use erg data to prove it.
