Haven't been with ios on the phone for 4 years and it's taking a few days to figure swipe this, swipe that!!!
Thanks for everyone carrying on in the thread without me and posting updates - brilliant.

Its 'free' metersPaul teare wrote: ↑September 28th, 2020, 3:52 amIve never done warm ups or cooldown. I justgo. Suppose i should. Probably better for me. Ill try it today
I really only do warm ups on the erg when going for something tough, such as a fast time or quick intervals. I always do a warm-down on the erg though where I paddle along for 1 or 2 km. Over a week, e.g. 5 sessions that's another 5-10Km
Team meters are looking great! The current average is a knat's whisker off 100k which is good going for Day 14. Not sure if David is on here but well done on 300k!!!

Popular choices for chest straps include the Polar H10, Wahoo Tickr and recently people have been having good results with the cheaper CooSpo chest strap. If you don't like chest straps, then the Polar OH1 is worn on the upper arm (not wrist) and is also quite popular.
I have the OH1 but after a couple of months decided that heart rate capped sessions not for me, so just use it for interest rather than guidance.
All the modern ones should come with both ANT+ and Bluetooth connectivity which will give you maximum flexibility for connecting to not just the PM5 but to other devices at the same time, e.g. I can connect the OH1 to Zwift over bluetooth and the PM5 over ANT+ at the same time so HR logged on both. The Polar app is quite good for logging and analysis. With the polar H10 and OH1 you can also log internally, so if you wanted to go for a bike ride or run you don't have to take your phone with you and can just pop on the HRM and set it to record mode, syncing up when you get home.

Paul
I've also got Polar OH1 arm monitor and is comfortable and works well
It helps as backup information on how training is going and theres plenty of useful information on the site here if you search HRMs.
It can also distract you if you see it climbing quicker than you'd hope or going for a PB and watching your heart rate exceed its previous max .
Can be useful but not necessary for most IMO,
Phil

Now with added stats of dubious value - https://freespiritsrowing.com/challenge ... _teams.php
... or direct to your page here -> https://freespiritsrowing.com/challenge ... s&id=13772
The distribution of rowers looks a lot more even than many other teams.

if you are really bored may be also add stats limited to team size bracket as well, I.e. for 50plus also give stats related to team size 21-50 as well as overall.
We all love stats!!!

Re: 50Plus - New Team
I think the easiest way would be to add team size to the teams table and then make the table sortable by any column. Hmmmm, the cogs are whirring.Dino wrote: ↑September 29th, 2020, 12:59 pmVery nice! RD today, so I'll do pilates instead, which I find invaluable as I age. During the lockdown, I downloaded from Instagram lots of yoga/ pilates stuff and found it very useful. Concentrate mainly on the hips/pelvis region with some general core stuff too. Back on erg tomorrow.

Re: 50Plus - New Team
Now over 5 million... that total doesn't stay still for long!
Whole team is doing brilliantly to be in the top 20 overall and 2nd in team size 21-50.
I know its getting tough as a lot of meters under the bridge but lets keep it up to hold these positions!

Re: 50Plus - New Team
Super impressed with everyone's rowing meters! Maintain the rage teammates.
You can throw a blanket over 50+, German Rowers & friends United, and Silent Water Neufeld teams!
This could come down to the wire.
Great effort everybody! Keep it up (as the actress said to the bishop).

Re: 50Plus - New Team
If it's less than an hour you should start fully hydrated and not need anything.
For longer pieces there's two options
1. One handed rowing, stick a couple of fingers through the D-ring that connects the handle to the chain (I did a lot of that when I had a broken wrist and a plaster cast on my dominant left arm).
2. Stop, handle down, drink, handle up & keep rowing. The monitor will stay alive for 4 minutes if you do nothing.

Another tip. Based on experience. If you drink too much and need to urinate.... best have bucket nearby...
