After my 10k PB last week I was pretty sure to get another PB today, but as I have hardly done any interval training at 5k pace lately I started conservatively to see how I feel - it was not an as good day as the 10k PB day, but pretty good, had a good bit left in the tank at 1k to go and nicely paced up. No thoughts about HD during the whole effort so I'm sure I can be a good bit faster, maybe close to 17:45 on a very good day.

No surprise that you managed this Martin, and I'm very happy for you. Imo, if you don't have a wobble at the 3.5-4k range you aren't going fast enough, so you're good for 17:45 next time, and it doesn't need to be a very good day; you just need to believe what we can all seeMartinSH4321 wrote: ↑September 27th, 2020, 4:13 amCongrats to all recent 5k PBs!

The confidence boost for your 30 mins TT will be massive, so get that one done next. A 60 mins TT doesn't have as many transferable benefits, and you don't want to lose the momentum.

Thanks Stu, and great you pushed me a bit to the 5k yesterday, if not I would propably have choosen the easier 30' TT, now I'm super happy with this confidence boost. You're right, going for 30' next makes more sense, gives me some extra confidence and then, hopefully, I can go for 16k.Dangerscouse wrote: ↑September 27th, 2020, 6:19 amNo surprise that you managed this Martin, and I'm very happy for you. Will you do the CTC 5k?
Edit: just saw your post on the other thread, feeling not really sick and not really good is so annoying, I hope you're well soon! You'll get a very strong CTC result even when not 100% fit of course, but take care, an all out effort may end in getting really sick.

It's all too easy to feel like your 'work is done' and go for a softer target, but a bit more risk, for a bigger reward was always the best option, if not what you're inner chimp would have been telling you to do.MartinSH4321 wrote: ↑September 27th, 2020, 7:54 am

I'll just have to see what happens but I seem to really up and down on a daily basis, so it might work out alright.

Thanks Alex, a great training week for both of uswinniewinser wrote: ↑September 27th, 2020, 1:23 pmWoohoo... awesome new PB Martin and well deserved. I knew it was never in doubt tooMartinSH4321 wrote: ↑September 27th, 2020, 4:13 amCongrats to all recent 5k PBs!

5k - 17:53.1 - -5,5''
After my 10k PB last week I was pretty sure to get another PB today, but as I have hardly done any interval training at 5k pace lately I started conservatively to see how I feel - it was not an as good day as the 10k PB day, but pretty good, had a good bit left in the tank at 1k to go and nicely paced up. No thoughts about HD during the whole effort so I'm sure I can be a good bit faster, maybe close to 17:45 on a very good day.

Great result Martin and like you say - faster next time for sure. I think you'll wipe quite a bite more off 17.45 to be honestMartinSH4321 wrote: ↑September 27th, 2020, 4:13 amCongrats to all recent 5k PBs!
