well done Marc and Linda on the 5k (especially Linda) it is a tough piece - it may get me to convince lizh to extend herself as well she is not keen!

Hi all,

Just a quick post to introduce myself. My name is Neil, joined the team today! I'm 42 years old, just got into the rowing machine as a way to keep fit during lock down. Brought a cheap machine, which lasted 3 months before it broke! So I decided to invest in a model D. Anyway I will look forward to taking part in the team challenges and contributing a good few meters! Thanks for having me!
Welcome aboard, Neil!

Last night I was going through all the new team members on the logbook site, so you already have a logbook mail with a link to the new members' guide.

Ok all
It is time to visit the Indoor Rowers league for 2020.
Thanks for kicking off, Lindsay. I was in there last night wondering if we should start a new team, so thanks for setting that up.

I did the individual challenges last year, but it would be good to get a team entry going again. There's also often an overlap with the Fitness Matters Monthly Challenge if anyone is keen to add an entry there (they track team participation too).

Sounds like the Rower's League is similar to CTC. Why not?! ☺️ I've signed up. Just waiting until there are enough signed up before we can start trying for a time to enter?
I tried to see how to enter a time earlier, but it would not let me. I presume we have to wait till we have enough people signed up?
Hi Neil

Sometimes there are gremlins on the site, which come right later. If it's still not working in a couple of days' time, there is an e-mail address on the site that you can use to alert the organiser.

Quick intro, as I think I just successfully joined the Forum
Flyers! My name is Kenneth. I’ve had a Model D for a few years, and have recently started using it more consistently. Now I just need a community and some healthy competition to get past the noob stage. Really looking forward to being part of this!
Welcome Kenneth! I also sent through a logbook mail, but good to see you've already found your way to the forum team thread.

Cheers
Dave

I've just joined the Forum Flyers too.
Supplementing my virtual running races with some rowing challenges so I hope to have a go at the Indoor Rowers League as well as contributing to the Fall Team Challenge.
Welcome Spike! Not sure if you also got a logbook mail from me, but if not, then look a couple of posts above this one for the link to the new members' guide.

If you're willing to give us a brief intro about yourself (first name, where you are in the world, rough age group, etc.) it is always useful to the other members (and helps me connect team member info across this forum, the logbook, CTC, etc.).

Thanks
Dave

Finally was able to convince my wife to join the team. She is just an occasional paddler for fitness...she enjoys the bike much more. But she is a female lightweight so I told her she’d be a valuable asset in floating a boat for the team. Which she did today as we floated boat #1 this month. I told her not to get too comfortable in her seat in Boat #1 :-). But she is a little competitive, so this might push her into being more serious on the rower.

Brief Background...
Linda Voorhees (wife of fellow Forum Flyer Marc Voorhees)
Age 64 (soon to be 65)
Lives in Asheville, NC, USA
Recovered from left knee and left hip replacement back at the beginning of 2019.
Rows just for fitness, along with SkiErg and BikeErg.
Good work on the recruiting, Marc!

I've been away from the forum for a few days as a result of work and then a weekend away in a place with patchy mobile internet signals.

Good to see all the new members coming on board for the Fall Team Challenge. I was doing my monthly comparison of the team member list on the C2 site and was amazed to see 22 new names added! I decided to contact as many as I could (not everyone has logbook mail option available), to advertise the wider team presence. But I see a few already got here on their own which is great.

I've been a bit slack on the training front, but our big work pressure time is over, and the weather is warming up which makes it easier to get an evening training session in. There are some long Zwift races coming up, so there should be some decent BikeErg mileage available for the team list.

Hello there:

Just joined your team. I've been erging for a while, but just started logging through Logbook about a year ago and just finished my first million meters. I have been enjoying the individual challenges and found them a good motivator. I am looking for a team so that I can join some of the Team Challenges. Found you on the Forum so thought I would join up.

Thanks for the email with the new members' guide. Very useful.

I'm based in the UK. Just turned 58 years old. My main sport is running but I cross-train with cycling and indoor rowing.

I use 'Spike' as my user name as that's what most people know me as. My given name is Russell so I'll answer to either.

The Virtual Rowing Championship earlier in the year was fun so I'm up for a few more challenges as part of a virtual team.

Hi,
You are advertising so nicely in other threats, I thought I ask directly here if can join you. I’ve only started rowing end of last year and am surprised that I am still at and actually enjoying it. I feel I need to get back to rowing some more again now that the warm days of summer are over – this is relatively speaking; it’s never actually warm here in Denmark. FLWT, 37y, I normally row 15-20k (should be 30-40 really) a week at 2:30 to 2:25 depending on the distance.

I just joined too, and it’s a great team! There’s a new member guide linked somewhere below in recent welcome messages from Dave.

Hi everyone! I also just joined the team! 28yo, FHWT. I was an athlete in high school and undergrad but I have spent a lot of time eating carbs since. I picked up a rower last April but only occasionally rowed until March of this year when rowing became the most exciting part of my day. I have loved the challenges the that are set up and was looking for a team for the Fall Team Challenge, which led me here. I have also signed up on the cross team challenge and indoor rowers league sites. :D -Sheena
