I forgot to mention Carol (the only cdykstra I know) and I did a real-world metric century on Saturday. We were at 97km when we got back to our staging location, so we had to keep riding then turn around and head back. ~50km in to the wind was rough, but we survived it.

Edit: Pulled a 6:53 2k last week to remind myself what sub-7 feels like. I didn't max out my heart rate and it didn't leave me dying on the floor. A few more weeks of concentrating on rowing and I might actually be ready for a 6:40 2k!
Hooboy! That's good work chasing a distance goal and a time metric! Riding into the wind is not fun...but one assumes that you were flat flying on the first part of the ride! Sounds like good fun...the biking part more fun than the 6:53 2K.

I did a century ride in Wyoming about 10 years ago - and out and back. Turned out that in between the first and second part of the ride, there had been a cattle crossing....cow pies everywhere. First 50 was done in two hours....second 50 was more like 4. Makes you earn your end of ride beer!

I am totally spoiled now having my own Concept 2. Erging under the carport I have the laptop next to me tuned to "Dark Horse Rowing". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1SHY1FR-S8 I rowed with a masters rowing club 2008 till 2013 when problems caused it to disband. To be able to row with a coach and crew has been so lacking. The "Dark Horse" Youtubes have been such an inspiration. Shane Farmer who works you through is an excellent coach. It has been a long time since I've had such enthusium for working out. My weight has been dropping a bit and if i squint my eyes I can almost see abs!!
Just thought I'd pass on the site in the hopes it might help other rowers here....

Lifetime Meters ... A Palindrome!

Post by Kona2 » September 4th, 2020, 9:19 am

I always try to take advantage of an opportunity for a palindrome - particularly on lifetime meters. This one is a doozie of a twosie! Next up will be 33,333,333 m...could be a little while!

Nothing says Fall Team Challenge like the arrival of Labor Day weekend here in the US ! From September 15 - October 15th, an amazing number of people in the Concept2 Universe will be participating in the meter free for all. The first two weeks are all about building a team, and the second two weeks are when the battle (aka galactic smackdown) really takes place. It's going to be a good time...no matter where we finish.

MILESTONES...Bragging Rights...Celebrations:

700 K Ken G
300 K Jeff D
300 K Peter E

50 K William S

Thanks, everyone, for erging with us! Welcome to Peter E, JD, William S, and NW ! 140 Lunies on the roster!

Tony 1,111 m ...a one of a kind palindrome! Don't have a graphic for a "one" !

Some may want to know what we're referring to when we say "mooner." A mooner is someone who has erged enough meters for a half marathon or more.

A deuxmageddon! Very nice!
Frank Sinatra (aka Frank Sumatra in coffee circles) might be able to come up with a nearer-in next goal than 33,333,333.

3:18:40.7 to do 100,005 meters. The PM5 on the BikeErg canceled the ride for me - I thought it'd let me just go and go. At least it recorded the entire metric century!

Yup, it maybe crashed on me! When I do the graph view on the logbook, it only graphs the first 100 minutes. I upload workouts to Strava to share with my parents and that also only graphed the first 100 minutes. It just flat-lined the rest. I had done a just ride that ... got out of control, so it was doing session splits every 5 minutes. That might have been a factor.
